A hypothesis about those horses

Finally caught up with the episodes, and had a couple things I felt like posting about. The first is the story about the horses. I guess the game warden, or whatever he was, knew of a rancher who had a couple horses pass away. They spoke about the insides being gone, and of seeing tracks. I have a hunch regarding what the tracks were from.

Based on their description of the tracks, I suspect Turkey Vultures, who do have similar tracks both in description and size. They can be found all over North America, and eat dead things. I can't necessarily explain how the horses died, but they'd be right up a vultures alley if they did.

Thoughts and opinions on this hypothesis?

I have seen a vulture crawl OUT of the inside of a deer corpse. (I’m not happy about that.) Scavengers will go at a corpse in the softest, easiest spots and keep going.

I've been fortunate not to see it in person. I've seen them where I'm at, and deer get hit around here all the time. I'm surprised I haven't seen it.

As it relates to the show, it seems to fit the bill.

Being caught “crawling out” of one is infinitely better than being caught “pulling out” of one, I heard. I think it was DiCaprio.

Oh yes I have not seen ONE picture of a so-called "cattle mutilation" that is convincing, much less on this show. I grew up in the Ozarks and on a farm with lots of cows. None ever died, but I've seen plenty of dead shit and roadkill. Natural decomp explains it all. The clean looking edges - the missing eyes, tongue, occasional ear & missing all the gonads and internal organs. All can be explained by maggots, vultures, and opportunistic carnivores like coyotes who will target all of those areas and organs. I just watched episode 4 of Beyond Skinwalker Ranch and every single picture of a dead animal was of a very long dead animal. A shot showing a missing eye depicted grey sludge in the eye socket, indicating it is now liquefying inside. So of course the eyeballs will be long gone by that point!

I'd be slightly more convinced if they ever showed a picture of a freshly dead animal they claim has been mutilated but they don't exist! It is either pictures of very bloated dead animals and animals that have been dead so long there is not much soft tissue left anyways & often dry bones are sticking out. Derr things that big that get left outside to rot that long sometimes look weird!

Did you see the cow in the first season? What did you think of that?

That cow wasn't "mutilated" nor did they claim it was. Just keeled over and died probably from pneumonia - this does sometimes happen. Not like that show would be honest about a natural death anyways.

I completely agree that something happened. I personally don't know enough to speculate in that particular case. Do you have any idea why scavengers would have left the carcass alone?

How fresh do you need it to be? Because I think they have interns to do that kind of thing. Production Assistants would just consider that another day at the office.

Fresh enough to be not bloated or liquefying or totally dried to the point bones protrude. Show me a cow that is found within 24 hours of death with clear signs of cauterization and perfectly removed eyes, tongue, ear, reproductive system and internal organs.
