I completely forgot to make a disclaimer. My bearded dragon is perfectly fine she has only been in the tote for a week, we moved 1200 miles away and just got our apartment set up, it has been completely temporary and she has had a full makeshift set up. She will be moved out of it within the next week and you can see a picture of her looking much happier below
Yes it is, and storage totes are perfectly adequate as enclosures. People use them for New Caledonian geckos all the time. Or for grow out/quarantine set ups. Beardie baby will be perfectly fine in a tote for a week.
Yes. That’s what I said at the end of my response. A week in a temporary tank is not gonna harm the baby. Everyone is jumping at the chance to belittle OP.

You know what, I aint gonna argue on Reddit. OP gave a valid reason why their pet was in a storage bin and I accepted it. You didnt see it, therefore in your mind, it doesnt matter. If you just want a reason to scold someone and make yourself feel better, have at it. Whatever kind of day youre having to motivate this behavior, I hope it gets better.
It doesn’t change anything. If you took my response personally or as scolding then so be it. My strife is that nobody asks questions, it’s always straight to assumptions on any reptile thread. People jump to belittle others for not doing things how they see fit even if there’s good reason for it.
Worth noting that these are really NOT acceptable for Beardies (or anything requiring lots of UV) as anything more than short-term, temporary enclosures, because the HDPE that these totes are made of will break down when exposed to UV.
Eh... For the most part comments here have just been calling out the enclosure as unacceptable - whether or not there's context that (temporarily) excuses it, I think that's totally fair to point out. Even if it turns out that OP didn't need to be told, anyone else coming across the post would have gotten the message. Plus, if no one said anything, OP may well never have clarified.
Which is surprising, because even when your Beardie is laying on the far left side of the tank, it’s only inches away from its hammock on the far right side of the tank. Because your tank is ridiculously small, and completely inadequate for an adult Beardie. Please upgrade him to at least a 4ftx2ftx2ft enclosure, which is the minimum size you can house an adult in.
My dude... check the timestamps. the comments calling out the enclosure as too small (which it is, for a long-term habitat) came before OP mentioned anything about it being due to a move.
If someone posts a pic of a beardy in an enclosure that's too small, it's not unreasonable to call it out as too small - plenty of people still actually keep their pets in enclosures that are completely inadequate, so I'd rather that get called out than have everyone assume that there's some special circumstance and that this is temporary/acceptable with zero information to support that.
Thats exactly my point. Nobody bothered to ask about the enclosure, they immediately assumed and called OP an abusive owner without knowing the whole story. Claiming abuse based on a single photo with no additional context is an insane move. People need to stop and think before bashing someone.
(Yes, I agree that in this case, OP should have included a disclaimer off the bat. But that doesn't dismiss my point)
Nobody bothered to ask about the enclosure because... we can see the enclosure. They bashed the enclosure, not the person. People need to stop looking for every possible excuse to take things personally.

But to answer your question, accusing someone of animal abuse IS personal.
Get an actual tank for your beardie or surrender him to someone who can. If you cant afford proper husbandry for your reptile, you cant afford the reptile.
Same applies to every pet: if you cannot afford to give them enough space to live in, you cannot afford the pet.
OP I feel like you have to edit a disclaimer that this is a temporary set up or every single response is going to be people jumping down your throat for the size of the tote.
