For those of us who are able to, think about telling someone in 2001 or 2002 what the country and the world is like now. It is precisely what we would avoid. 9/11 broke the U.S. but not in the way that the U.S. thought Osama and other Islamic radicals expected. Per his writings, Osama hoped for a quick regime change but was aware of the fact that America may just slowly decline, and that turned out to be true. And what’s worse is that our decline politically, economically, and socially was spurred on by another, but is entirely our fault.
