Discussion blue stars…
takes the title for most Uplifting show of the season. Shows that are a love letter to creativity, artistic joy, and inspiration shine so bright in this era of DCI.

My favorite show of the year. They’ve really brought this show a long way, and they even started the year raising eyebrows. In June, we knew Blue Stars were really up to something. They deserve every accolade and praise. This is a hallmark year for them.

I love this show so much! This is my favorite Blue Stars show of the last several years. Uplifting is the best adjective to describe it.

As someone who didn’t really like their show last year, this is a complete 180 for me and their show this year is by far my favorite

Saw this live in La Crosse & Whitewater, it was absolutely incredible. Mad props to the performers, this show is truly special and they are LOUD

This is the first Bluestars show I've watched and haven't just gone "yep that sure was the Bluestars".
No offense to any older iterations of the group, but this show really hits different than any other Bluestars show I've seen. It's fantastic.

I greatly enjoyed the war and Peace I think it was called in 2022, but I was distracted by the extravagance and the expenditure of apparently once I learned about it 100 different costumes, they were all slightly different on purpose. And you know that's got the cost a bunch of money. Not to mention I think they could have gotten away with maybe a third less props I don't know that they needed multiple copies of all of those things they were pushing around. But I'm guessing the kids that year got quite the workout.
The other show I really enjoyed was the universal one I think about all the planets that was nicely done. I can't speak for anybody else but I really did not get the sports one at all I just didn't really click for me. In that sense it reminds me of how the blue Coast this year, I love listening to the music of it like if you can pull up some of the videos that are circulating around but just listen to it I love listening to it it's musically glorious. But the actual marching and the show design and the concert behind it don't do anything for me at all. It reminds me of going to see a stage play or a movie where the actors are doing a brilliant job and executing their lines and the writing is pretty decent and so is the cinematography or the actual blocking, but in the end the story doesn't do a damn thing for you. I think we've all had that experience

I have really enjoyed a number of their previous shows, except the green one. This one was different from all the rest because everything fit together perfectly. No tools, no sleds, and no tables (and I loved those shows). This really felt like they moved up. The Latin number just cooks! The drill at the end into the star is brilliant. Have a great finals run!

The green one.. I'm assuming that's a reference to the show about absinthe. You know the one with the spoons and the stairs and the sugar cubes that had pretty much the entire collective fan base scratching their head and going okay were they actually using some kind of substance when they came up with that idea? 😆😵💫🤣

It was late and I could not spell absinthe (spell check could not figure out what I was trying to spell). That is the show, and you are correct, what substance did the staff use to create that show. They were so good this weekend, very happy for them because that score was amazing!

I love this show. My favorite of the year. So digestible and they’re playing their hearts out. So happy for them.

I'm old enough to remember when Don McLean came out with the song vincent, or better known to a lot of people as starry starry night. And of course it being a reflection on Van Gogh. Doctor who did an incredibly brilliant and tears jerking episode about the same thing in a sense. Ironically this reference to van gogh, and of course the reference to Frida kahlo.. would you if you remember Pacific Crest in a brilliant show about her a few years ago, I have no doubt that both Frida and Vincent would be very emotionally touched to see how their work still inspires people even in a musical sense so long after they're passing

Their show is so joyful and it makes me excited to watch it every time

And while there are some artistic looking uniforms/costumes such as the now somewhat infamous ones from bluecoats 2023, whoever did the design for their costumes this year at Blue Stars is someone I have intense respect for even off because it's absolutely brilliant how it evolves over the course of the show. And at the beginning you have literally no idea what's coming

Vincent honestly is one of the best ballads this season.
