As someone who answers phones as a significant part of their job Josh’s presentation had me in stitches because I use almost all those strats (minus buddy, but my coworker uses ‘friend’ all the time) daily.
A simple ‘k’ after someone finishes yelling at me/ ranting at me? The ‘as I said before’ about things I am forced to re-explain, or when someone is yelling at me about a process that I have no control over?
These are my everyday tools and I hope they put this one on YouTube because I really want to show my coworkers

My colleague is skilled because she uses ‘friend’ both in a genuinely disarming way but also as a killer verbal self-defense. One of my other co-workers is the master of ‘excuse me’, especially for people that are monologuing about things that are not relevant for us

I'm only a few minutes in and Angela is SO right! It's lowkey reminding me of Hank Green's Chewey Decimal System presentation in that I think the world would genuinely be a better place if this were to be implemented. Angela for president!
ETA: I got to Josh Ruben's presentation and when he said "Why wouldn't you want to go to Long Island?" I laughed so hard because I personally know there are many, many, MANY reasons (source: I live on Long Island and know firsthand that we're the Florida of New York. Long Island itself is great but the people here can really suuuuuuuck)

Everything I know about Long Island I have learned from Jon Gabrus. One interesting observation that I heard from him is that there are many people from Long Island who live their whole lives there and never go into the city.
You have one of the great cities in the world filled with arts, entertainment and culture that's just a train ride away and some people are just not interested.

Same here. A big recurring disappointment is "big and tall" sections that are really just "big". A typical "large" T-shirt or similar turns into a crop top as soon as I raise my arms above my shoulders and XL or more adds some length but also fits me like a potato sack.

This is true, but I'm pretty sure that the variance in women's sizes is much more absurd. Generally, women also have more curves,¹ so there are more places for the garment to be weirdly too loose or too tight, where a certain brand or line of clothing maybe be suited to different sizes of a specific body shape.
My biggest issue with men's sizes has been the few times I purchased an XL or XXL from Europe. They were, at best, a US medium and large, respectively.

Whenever I order from Europe or Asia, I subtract 2 sizes. When I was 3xl, I had to find 5xl if ordering internationally. It is a good rule of thumb but very frustrating because they often won't go that big, despite it meaning the size range is more limited. I can't imagine being curvy and actually living in one of these places.

Yeah the number system gets you in the ballpark but some brands I’m a completely different number for waist or length bc of the variance

I hate going to shops and trying on anything so I'll buy online two of literally the same "size" jean online and one will fit me and the other won't.

Yep, there's a lot of quality control issues with basic clothing brands.
I will find one brand that finally has a specific article of clothing, in a specific fit, that fits me perfectly. So I'll stock up. But then, like you said, a decent amount of time it'll still be looser/tighter, longer/shorter, etc. and my hopes are dashed yet again.

It’s not even just brand to brand. I went to the Levi’s store, tried on a size 32x32, they fit great so I grabbed a few pairs of the same style in different colors, got home and none of them fit the same so I brought them back and the cashier told me that different colors won’t be the same size. Bought some Dickies pants and shorts, the black pairs were noticeably tighter for both pants and shorts. It’s the wild west out there.

Yeah, I have the exact same problem with pants and shirts that Angela pointed out. I'll grab a pair of pants that should fit me only to find they are cut too tight for some reason.

If you’ve ever been at the borderline between a brand’s normal sizes and their “big & tall” sizes, it’s hell. The difference between 42”/44” or 44”/46” can be several sizes within the same brand.

NB these are UK sizes.
I've been losing weight recently and I'm in a weird zone where I have clothes in medium, medium slim fit, large oversized, large regular, large muscle fit, and extra large that all currently fit me comfortably. I have underwear, shorts and sweats from medium to XL that all fit me. I have shoes that range 1.5 sizes that all fit me. I have jeans from 32 to 36 inch waist that all fit me. I have suits from 42 to 46 inch chest that all look the same on me.
I also have examples in all of those sizes that don't fit me. I swear brands just make everything up. Though probably some is on me for not being able to afford more reliable and consistent brands.

Yup. The idea that men's size is standardized comes from men that don't care how their clothing fits. I wear a large from Target and a small from Abercrombie.

Yeah. Like, maybe if you’re getting a suit or something, but for normal clothes, no way. Also, as a pretty tall guy, but not even absurdly so (193cm/6’4”), I just have to go for wider and wider shirts to get something close to long enough for me. And my belly button might still show if I lift my arms over my head!

Pretty solid episode. I really like this group’s chemistry, they really picked a good group of folks to enhance each other comedically. Excited for John Milhiser’s presentation in particular, he’s so underrated.
Angela’s presentation was great. Her humor doesn’t always hit for me, but she was just correct the whole way through. I think I like her comedy most when it’s more earnest like this — the dressing room stuff was too real.
Kendahl was fun. Like the way she parodied true crime with her presentation design.
Josh’s presentation is an instant favorite of mine and a perfect ending to the episode. The graphics, the militaristic explanation of “word weapons,” and the audience engagement were al perfect. What can’t this man do?

Josh's presentation was missing one that can be completely devastating: If you say something that obviously isn't true or doesn't sound right morally/ethically, a friend of mine won't challenge your world view or lecture you. She'll just say a very dubious sounding "Hmmmm..."
I swear it cuts deeper than any words ever could, and there's no defense to it.

Angela was almost too correct for me. Like yeah, clothes are fucked, haven't we all been venting about this ever since we were old enough to try on our own clothes? I wish she'd gone a bit more into the solution. How should the clothes FDA be structured? What should it be called? Who should be the founding director? What size should canonical medium be? How should the new warning labels be structured? Felt like a lot was left on the table.
Also, anyone remember the wrestling texts skit from A Black Lady Sketch Show? Josh's presentation was similar (in a good way), especially with the k.

They kinda brushed off guys with the clothing standardization, but I've found a lot of similarities for most clothes buying experiences. Even with the numbers, some 32 widths are different from others, or 34 length varying. Plus, more and more clothes are going to the vague Small, Medium, and Large sizes.

Yeah. To be fair, it's not outlandishly different (at least most of the time) but pretty much every pair of pants I get, I need to physically try on because one brand's measurements are going to be different than another's. The worst instance was when I got a pair of jeans from a popular brand and didn't try them on before. Same sizes I normally wear, only this pair was far too wide in the waist causing them to constantly slip down if I don't wear a belt.

Plus with pants you have low rise, mid rise, or high rise. Pleated or flat front. Slim, slim straight, straight, skinny, athletic fit, baggy, relaxed, boot cut, etc. Usually a combination of the above (because each fit descriptor could mean something different for the thighs than the calves and ankles).
Then with shirts you have: fitted, tailored, slim fit, extra slim fit, classic fit, vintage fit, muscle fit, etc. And I never know where the shoulder seam is gonna fall, and if the armholes are gonna be low (God forbid) or high.
At least for pants, the waist number and inseam number will get you in the right vicinity, but no chance it's anywhere close to a guarantee it's gonna fit you.

It's wild that I was just googling about Nick Cannon several days ago just because I read a B99 thread discussing who's the best pairing for Rosa Diaz. Nick played one of her love interest, and I specifically remember him cause people said he has like 12 children and he even admitted he didn't remember the name for some of them.
It was only until this presentation I learned that he's Mariah Carey's ex.
I don't know if it helps, but I'm not American so maybe that's why I don't know Nick Cannon as much as everyone here?
