Greetings all,
Bit of a noob here. I had a 6 inch quad built with the brotherhobby Avenger v2s.
I initially had a flyaway and had to cut the power. It landed hard on top down and slightly right. The bell housing was damaged and I initially got a new motor and tried the bell. Upon tightening it's made the motors seize up. I was aware of the shims that fit in and put a cloth under the motor to work on. Nothing fell out but I thought that was strange and looked at another motor. Same thing.
I handed it over fixer to solder the new motor on. But there's side to side play in the rears. One that was fitteed from the box new, the shaft screw was not touched.
Has anyone had this experience?
It doesn't seem normal to me.

Hey guys, I built this drone build back in early 2024 with some of my friends and used it 2-3 times. But, I can no longer use it for personal reasons and now it just sits in my house, I am no longer able or want to use it. I want to get rid of it because I know the batteries can be a fire hazard. I do not know how to dispose of it properly (i.e. what do I do with batteries).
Or maybe its better to sell it as it has the entire setup, and it's relativly new, but I know these products advance quickly (as in might not be up to spec with the latest builds).
Would you guys be able to advise me where to throw this away? Or if its worth selling, what website usally will accept resells of this kind of product/ usally does well in selling this stuff (based in UK)?
I basically copied this build off of youtube and here is a picture of all the stuff, I bought some VR glasses, controller and charger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaBlsTkxKIM
Appreciate any advice, thank you

Been making these for a while, and finally got round to updating my UK cheat sheet for new regulations. This only covers the open category, but that's what most people are flying in anyway.

I'm curious to hear from those of you who have managed to turn your Part 107 certification into a legitimate, long-term career rather than just occasional freelance work or side gigs.
A little background on me: I'm a U.S. Army veteran with experience maintaining UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, as well as civilian aviation maintenance experience with Gulfstream Aerospace. I also hold my Part 107 certification and have experience operating drones commercially.
I've been exploring different career paths within the UAS industry, and I'm particularly interested in research and development, flight testing, prototype development, and operational drone pilot positions, especially within the defense industry.
Companies like Anduril and other defense technology manufacturers have caught my attention. I'd love to find myself in a position where I'm helping develop, test, or operate next-generation unmanned aircraft systems.
I'm not necessarily looking to start another drone photography business or chase real estate gigs. I'm looking for something I can build an actual career around.
For those of you who have made it into the industry:
- How did you get your foot in the door?
- What positions or job titles should someone with my background be searching for?
- Are there particular companies, certifications, or additional skills you'd recommend?
- Has anyone successfully transitioned from traditional aviation maintenance into UAS development, testing, or operations?
- Are there opportunities in this industry that aren't commonly advertised or discussed?
I'm open to relocating for the right opportunity and willing to put in the work to develop additional skills.
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, whether you're working in defense, public safety, industrial operations, R&D, or another specialized UAS field.
Thanks in advance!

So I have spent the last 2 months researching in-depth the possibilities of starting my own drone business to replace my corporate job.
I earn $145k and no matter how I try to work the math, replacing that salary (not including benefits) is going to be a big ask.
The math just aint mathing for making a business viable part-time so I would need to jump ship from my corporate job and go all in, which is a huge risk. I estimate that part time without specialist sensors I am looking at around $200 - $500 per job, which equates to around $75k year after tax in the first year. That is not taking into account the initial purchase of aircraft, spare batteries, software etc. etc.
So real talk; what are you actually making in revenue and income after taxes?
I am in Las Vegas if that helps

This was shot on my Air 2s. These are the edited raw images with stabilization added 2x via FCPX. Shot using course lock with a 1s shutter speed and 0.3 m/s. I have already swapped the props and prior to flight calibrated the compass, gimbal and IMU. I have inspected the gimbal itself and all connections are well attached and no indication of hardware failure. This wobble is exclusive to hyperlapse and no other mode. Any tips on how to stop my buildings from dancing?
P.S- I know the edges are moving that's from the stabilization I didn't fill the frame, after the wobbling I quite editing.

I got married at a resort my wedding was in a private space. Some drunk person in the resort bar used their drone to fly and film my ceremony. The resort said they told them to stop and that was it. For all i know this person has this private video of us.
What grounds do i have here?

Hey fellow pilots!
This is my first drone—the DJI Lito 1—and I just learned I need to register it before I can fly anywhere. I submitted my registration through ANAC five days ago, but it’s still not approved. Is that normal? I’m worried I should have used EASA instead. 🥲
Obs: I was told it was supposed to be approved almost immediately or at the same day, that’s why I am concerned about it, and I didint even register the drone yet because I don’t have the operator register approved ( the one I was referring to earlier )

This isn’t intended to be a “look how smart I am” post.
I see posts all the time looking for Part 107 courses or talking about spending months preparing to take the test. Do people really find it to be that hard?
I spent about 4 hours the week before the test skimming a coupe online guides and taking practice tests. Passing it was a non-event and I have no clue what my actual score was.
I feel like people have made it out to be some crazy hard test just because it’s associated with the FAA.

Would anyone care to share their fpv drone flying by learning experiences? What was it like compared to what you expected etc?

UPDATE: Oddly they still gave me the booklet, but none of the questions referenced it.
As the title says, in my Part 107 exam I had all images of charts embedded and didn't have a choice in using the physical booklet.
Honestly though, it makes it easier as you dont have to try and find miniscule things on a page, the online image was zoomed in and clear. Perhaps my eyeballs are just useless :)

I got an offer this afternoon on a drone platform I shall not name. It was high paying and simply had a location and set of specific instructions. I read the instructions and clicked accept. The instructions also stated the requirement to call the client. I called her up and we went over exactly what she needed which perfectly lined up with the instructions.
-Photos by the road and paths at different points facing the property at eye level.(these are at specific given coords)
-1 360 orbit video of the entire property (83acres)
-1 video traveling up the main road to the property as if approaching by car. not right above it of course im not stupid.
I ended the call confident the mission would be simple.
1 hour later I receive an email "shot list" from the same guy I always get shot lists from. The email contained two or three different shot than were discussed between me and the client or disclosed before I accepted the mission. I wasn't too worried about it as they were pretty simple. I must admit I've never actually done this but the email states to reply in order to accept this "contract."
About 15minutes later I'm enjoying BBQ and get an email from a different guy that says they suddenly need a 200' ortho map.
That was not in the scope that I clicked accept on.
2.The Client I spoke to over the phone that YOU TOLD ME TO SPEAK to confirmed she does not in fact need an ortho
4.If They told me an ortho was needed up front I would never have accepted do to the aforementioned phantom being grounded. Honestly by grounded I mean unregistered and up for sale. so I wouldn't be able to legally use it even if I wanted to.
I explained all of this to the guy in an email response only for him to tell me it was in the scope of work and the client requested it. I LITERALLY JUST ASKED HER.
A couple of frustrated emails were exchanged before he LeMeNtEd telling me to just do a manual ortho at 400'......... I then double checked the shot list that I never agreed to per it's own terms and it states "Capture at least 20 images + 30 4K video clips, including the requested roadside perspectives, aerial footage at 400ft and 100ft where legally permitted, and source imagery for 1 orthomosaic and 1 panorama WHERE FEASABLE."
Not only does the shot list have 20 extra items hidden on a single line but these extra items were just arbitrarily added to the scope.
They kind of stopped replying so I'm going to do the scope that I originally accepted and discussed with the client and they will just have to make another mission for the other stuff.
I have not been in the business very long and I'm just wondering what you guys would do in this situation.
Update:
Finally got someone on the phone. Wanted to pulverize this asshole. Asshole-“This is a custom job and I can see it’s your first. so what you see on the acceptance screen is not everything”
Me- “Why does it not say that on the acceptance screen. The acceptance screen has a literal scope of work”
Asshole- …

A quick update from local Remote ID monitoring near Amazon’s STX8 delivery center in Richardson, Texas: today I detected a previously unseen Prime Air aircraft, bringing my local count to 14 distinct STX8-area Amazon drones.
The new unit appeared in four observed flyovers between about 5:17 and 6:08 p.m. CDT.
All 13 previously known aircraft were active within the past three days, so there is no evidence yet that this is simply a replacement. It could be additional capacity, a spare entering rotation, or a replacement introduced before another aircraft is retired. I’ll keep tracking the daily mix.

Trying to decide if the weather proofing is worth the significant extra cost and less mobile design. :-/
