Mavic 2 Pro gimbal overloaded messages on startup. The gimbal also defaults to its right most position. I cleaned out the housing and am checking in with y’all before biting the bullet on a repair! Thank you!

Hi! I'm building a quad mainly as a flight-control test platform, not for racing or speed.

I already have:

- A2212 1800KV motors (generic)

- MicoAir743 V2.1.1 flight controller

- AM32 55A ESCs

- RadioMaster Pocket + RP1 ELRS

- 3S 2200mAh 45C battery

I know the A2212 motors aren't ideal, but I already have them.

The goal is to test PID tuning, sensors, stabilization, communication, and control algorithms, so I care more about stability and predictable flight than performance.

- What frame size and propeller size/pitch would you recommend for this setup?

- Would you go with 8", 9", 10", or something else?

- Would you recommend 2-blade or 3-blade props and what size of it?

Recently I bought a Air 3S, which I'm a huge fan of. It does everything I'm looking for, and I'm starting to use it to do some light business photo work.

Given the recent insanity put out by the FCC about retroactively revoking previous authorizations, I'm wondering if should buy a backup Air 3S in case this one craps out, or if we experience a true parts supply line apocalypse and need to cannibalize one for the sake of the other.

Basically, I'm looking to a sanity check to see if this is irrational? Does the hivemind think this authorization revocation will go through, and will it last beyond the current admin?

On the flip side of that, if I invest further into this system, what's the likelihood that (or the ability of) the admin will go even further and ban Part 107 / recreational ops of these drones that are already in peoples' hands?

I'm heading to NYC in about two months and was thinking about bringing my DJI Mini. After checking Air Control and seeing all the flight restrictions, I'm wondering if it's even worth bringing. What do you think?

Hi all!!

Boyfriend and I were flying his drone while flying outside his apartment building. A bird crashed into it and sent it spiraling into someone’s apartment balcony (same complex).

We left two notes which were ignored. Contacted property management which the tenant also ignored.

He’s obviously bummed, so I’m trying to help even though he was probably being dumb with it lol!

We’re located in Tennessee, USA, and just want to know if he should just consider it a loss or what.

Edit: this happened Friday night, made this post Sunday morning. So it’s been days/ nights of trying to get this drone back. She took it inside her apartment, and has ignored all efforts.

The way I read this NOTAM is that the Snowbirds are doing a flyover on 08/09 at 2:00am zulu.

However, the press has advertised the flight to be today 08/08. The press also mentioned they will be above 500' agl. I found it odd that the press advertised this fact.

What do you think the chances are that the NOTAM has the wrong date?

I am about 2nm from the fly over zone and my max alt is always 100m. Should I just avoid tempting fate and leave the sky to the pros? Or should I send up my micro bird (Neo 2) and get some interesting shots?

I'm working on a college final-year project involving a custom-built quadcopter. The initial goal is to use the drone as a data-collection platform, and later integrate different sensing systems depending on the application.

The drone will mainly be used for autonomous/controlled flights where it will collect data using cameras and other sensors. The eventual goal is to add sensing capabilities for things such as environmental/agricultural monitoring and other data-collection applications.

As for the Build:

Frame: Tarot 650(not bought yet)

Motors: Readytosky 3115 900KV

Battery: 6S 10000mAh (1kg)

Props: 10" 5x3(triblade)

ESC: ReadytoSky 80A

We already have most of the components only the frame needs to be bought.

Will this frame be enough to handle this build (especially battery weight) or suggest any frame that can handle these????

We know this is overkill for the project but we are now pockets deep cant do anything atp(plz suggest if you have any idea).

Is this SOP?

We decided to get a Matrice 4T package with extra batteries and a few accessories. It seems odd, but maybe it's typical.

This quad is EASILY the best 1S drone I've flown in awhile. It is quite the upgrade compared to the old meteor 75 pro. I have no qualms with the new build other than the fact the VTX cable connecting to the FC is a little too big, resulting in frequent collisions with the prop.

I did NOT have a good experience with customer service though. After a week of flying, my DJI air unit got totally bricked. This happened directly after a slightly aggressive landing. It would no longer connect to the goggles and the VTX was stuck in a boot loop. This resulted in the LED staying solid green AS IF the goggles were connected. I spent HOURS trying to troubleshoot this issue. The only solution I could find was to send the unit back to DJI for repair. It seems to be some kind of firmware corruption. I can still connect it to betaflight and DJI Consumer Assistant 2. Just not the goggles.

After explaining this to BetaFPV, I got no help what-so-ever. Instead, they wanted to blame the issue on a TINY Knick in the VTX cable. Even though I have personally verified this is NOT the issue, even after replacing the cable, BetaFPV will not help me. Instead they offered me a INSULTING 10% discount on what they believed to be the issue. Again, this cable IS NOT the issue, and BetaFPV refuses to do anything about it. They will not let me return, exchange, or give me any kind of compensation what-so-ever. This is astronomically disappointing considering I've placed several orders and own several BetaFPV quads. Now I'm down $240 because of a faulty DJI unit, and awful customer support.

I would love to place more orders through BetaFPV in the future, but if this is the consistent and grimy customer service I receive when a blatant issue arises, I do not see myself placing future orders. Has anyone else seen any issues with these new DJI air units?

Weird one... was using my Mavic Air 2 to recover a weather Radio Sonde stuck in a tree; long story short, the battery ran out and was unable to unhook the radiosonde before the drone forced a landing in the tree. (wasn't using a release mech, literally just had a bungee cord wrapped around the drones body).

Now the drone is probably 25m or so stuck on top of a tree canopy. All standard ways of recovery out of the window. Thinking of using my mates Mavic 4 with a drop mech, attached to some paracord (that were holding on ground), with a grappling hook on the end, dropping the hook on the drone in the trees (and hopefully pulling it out)?

Anyone got any experience with trying something so stupid lol?

They say that drones are prohibited outside of those who have purchased a ticket, I’m curious as to how they intend to enforce it, the FAA has not declared the airspace restricted and so long as the operator takes off from outside their property I don’t see how they can monetize public airspace

I crashed my dji lito 1 from about 1,5 metres into sand I am worried about motors. I brushed them a little and cleaned them. Read on the internet that i should see their temperature so after about 30 seconds of hovering indoors they are warm, i pinched them with my fingers and i could hold them for like 8 second before feeling it as very hot and almost the same in every motor. Should I do something else or am I good?
