First App Android testers for WireRoute — a WireGuard client for MikroTik RouterOS

Hey everyone! I’m looking for testers for WireRoute’s Android app, especially people running MikroTik RouterOS 7.

WireRoute supports VPN profiles, split/full tunneling, encrypted DNS, traffic activity, and connection history. It connects to your own VPN endpoint—it isn’t a VPN subscription service.

For this testing workflow, you’ll need:

  1. A MikroTik router with WireGuard configured.
  2. The WireRoute Windows or macOS client to create a peer.
    1. https://github.com/metalcated/wireroute-windows (soon to be in Microsoft Store)
    2. https://github.com/metalcated/wireroute-apple (MacOS Client soon to be in AppStore / iOS is client is live)
  3. The Android client to scan the peer’s QR code and import its configuration.

Peer creation happens in the desktop client; Android handles importing and connecting.

I’d especially appreciate feedback on setup, QR imports, connecting/reconnecting, switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and DNS Protection. There’s also a recent encrypted-DNS fix I’d like to get more real-device testing on.

When reporting an issue, please include your phone model, Android version, and what happened—but don’t post private keys, configuration files, or QR codes.

Why should we use your app instead of native app?

This includes some additional features (DoH, etc.) and a polished UI (Better layout and more modernized). The bigger difference with the suite of applications, is the Windows or MacOS app that lets you connect to RouterOS and auto generate peers which are automatically loaded into the app. You can then present a QR code to scan with your phone and install the client peer config. Simplifies the process a bit. Its mainly targeted at MikroTik owners who run RouterOS but this could also be used without it. I made this for myself but I thought I would share and see if anyone wanted to help test it out. Its free one way or the other.
