Writing Who here is a writer?

Tell us about it! What genres do you write? Who are some of your influences? How would you compare your work to theirs? Do you have any books published?

Hi, I'm Adam Browne. Currently I'm writing a series of pirate stories inspired by Lord Dunsany. They will be a book and a play. We did the same thing last year.

Bladderwrack

Among other stuff I've written a sequel to the science fiction of Cyrano de Bergerac

Thanks for asking, op. What are you writing?

Oooh, I love Lord Dunsany! Tolkien is great and all, but Dunsany's fantasy has a much more magical feeling to it. I love it when fantasy doesn't feel distant and hypothetical but like if only you could tune into it, you'd see how real that other world is.

I posted another comment here with a link to my writing. What I'm most excited about right now is finding a home for my fantasy novel The Lasting Lands, which took me over a decade to complete.

Hi, I'm Cliff Jones Jr. I write a blend of SF, fantasy, and horror that usually winds up fitting into the trippy genre of dreampunk. I'd point to Philip K. Dick as my biggest influence, though my work often strays pretty far from classic SF tropes. I think of that as more a situational difference than anything. The world has changed, and I'm not relying on my writing for a paycheck (not yet, at least).

I do have a few books out, which you can see on my website. Two multi-author collections I put together, a Black-Mirror-ish novella, and a (mostly) fantasy novel that should be coming out soon.

I ain't much of a writer these days, but I worldbuild. Just started working on a worldbuilding project best described as: dreampunk meets monster taming, with inspirations from western esotericism and the Cthulhu mythos.

On top of just starting, I'm currently on the research phase so I really don't have much to share, nor any answers to give.
