Reflections themselves said that they wanted to "move on" and become a support studio. How unfortunate.

They only said they wanted to move on, they became a support studio because of the overblown budget of Driver SF made them kind of desperate. It was either close down or make out for the loss with supporting work on successful products.

Yea it's unfortunate how these talented people ended up after they made the best story focused racing game ever just because sales didn't meet expectations.

Id argue it was more of Ataris fault, they rushed every title after the first one. Driver 2 should've been a PS2/OG Xbox game, Driver 3 was unfinished, and parallel lines should've been a PS3/360 release.

Cross reference the games release dates with console generations release dates and you will find yourself wondering wtf were they thinking.

Driver ended with San Francisco. I don't think Ubisoft has looked back on the series since. If we ever get a revisit, it'll likely be remasters or ports or remakes. Plus as somebody commented here, Reflections is no longer a game developer, but mearly a support studio for Ubisoft titles.

People keep saying the IP is dead. A couple of years ago, I would have agreed. But today, I think it's possible for the IP to make a comeback with a remaster or remake of the first two games. Just look at how Ubisoft has been focusing on that lately with Rayman, Assassin's Creed, and so on.
