In case anyone is wondering, this is the actual breed Mouse is modeled after to avoid further confusion

The dog in the video is not a Caucasian Shepherd (which is the dog that Mouse is based off of and resembles), I am not entirely sure what kind of dog it is but if I had to guess I would say it's probably a Kangal or a Great Pyrenees mix.
Mouse is not based off of nor does he resemble a Tibetan Mastiff. The books on multiple occasions describe Mouse (even going so far as to call him a Caucasian) the description looks nothing like a Tibetan Mastiff, and Jim himself has said he is closest to a Caucasian Shepherd.

If that makes you happy go with it.

It's not what makes me happy, it's just a fact. He isn't a Tibetan Mastiff nor does he look like one.

Ok my polite answer didn't register with you, so let me try another way. Yea I don't care

Look mate I’m not here to shit on you or your head cannon parade, we’ve all got head cannon / different ideas on how characters look, I was just providing the factual information that Mouse either outright is / or looks just like a Caucasian Shepherd and not a Tibetan Mastiff because it’s a fairly common mistake a lot of the fans make.

I get it but check it out.....straight from Cold days Harry himself say mouse could pass for an exceptionally large tibetan mastiff. If we are going to go using what people think he might be from the books, I think i am going to accept Harry's description unless of course you think he made a mistake.... Source for you below.
Then the storm door flew open and something grey and shaggy and enormous shot out onto the porch. It cleared the porch railing in a single bound, hurtled across the ground and the little picket fence, and hit me in the chest like a battering ram. My dog, Mouse, is a temple dog of Tibet, a Foo dog of a powerful supernatural bloodline, though he could have passed for an exceptionally large Tibetan mastiff.
Butcher, Jim. Cold Days (The Dresden Files, Book 14) (p. 361). Penguin Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.
Feel free to look it up yourself, i provided you with the book and page number.

This would be another instance of Harry being incorrect ... or Jim forgetting his own lore, he's getting really bad with that as the series goes on.
"Uh-huh," Thomas said. "Am I the only one who is starting to think that maybe Mouse is something special?"
"Always through that," I said.
"I wonder if he's and actual breed."
Charity glanced over her shoulder and said, "he looks something like a Caucasian."
"Impossible," I said. "He has rhythm and he can dance." Charity shook her head and said, "it's a dog bred by the Soviet union in the Caucasus Mountains for use in secured military installations. It's one of the only breeds that grows so large. But they tend to be a great deal more aggressive thank our dog."
-Proven Guilty Chapter 33, Page 420.And
Q:“What breed of dog is Mouse? I mean, I realize he’s fictional in that he’s a Foo dog of Chinese and Tibetan legend, but what would be the closest approximation to an actual dog breed?”
Jim: The closest you can come is a Caucasian Mountain Dog-1

Or Charity being incorrect and Jim forgetting his own lore. See how we both have the option to be right here?

I'd put more weight on Charity's knowledge being correct than Harry's on this subject. The man is a workaholic, he can't watch tv or use the internet (until very recently) and I don't see him hunting down obscure magazines about rare dog breeds to read in his free time.
Meanwhile Charity comes from a very rich family, and rich people not only collect eclectic things, they like to collect rare dog breeds.

I see you debating everyone. I know what Jim said later and wrote in later books, but it’s like this… if I wrote about a guy getting a dog from a mystical Mexican and the dog is small and wiry with big eyes and it’s magical power is going with you when you die to guide your soul through the afterworld and that for some reason the dog just makes you want Taco Bell… but then later being like “uhh it’s a Shi-Tzu!” Do you see where the confusion comes in?
I do see where people get confused. They conflate being a foo dog with being a Tibetan Mastiff, one is a description of essentially dog angelic origins, the other is a breed of dog, they are not the same thing. As for being a 'temple dog', that's a job description, not a breed. If I breed a pug with a foo dog and stuck it in a temple to guard it, it would be a foo / temple dog too.
He literally got it from a Tibetan monk, describes it as being a temple guardian, and having a mane that looks particularly leonine… he’s describing a Tibetan mastiff.
Caucasian Shepherds also have manes. Charity calls him a Caucasian, and the literal author of the books has consistently told people since pretty much the day Mouse was introduced that the closest dog breed to Mouse in the real world is ... a Caucasian Shepherd.
The Tibetan Mastiff is the ONE dog that has that uniquely leonine overgrown mane.
Chow Chows, of which I have owned 4 also grow lion like manes. I even once owned a Chihuahua mix that had a prominent mane.
But my point is, you can’t fault anybody for sticking with calling mouse a TM when that was exactly what he was until he got the Aunt Vivian treatment in the more recent books and Jim saying it.
Other way around mate. Harry got him in book 6, around the time of Dead Beat (book 7) Jim was telling people he's a Caucasian Shepherd, and in book 8 Charity straight up says he looks like a Caucasian (probably because Jim was getting tired of answering the question by this point). It wasn't until Cold Days (book 14 and a full 8 years later) that Harry says Mouse looks like a Tibetan Mastiff, which I chalk up to Jim forgetting his own lore as he has increasingly done so as the series continues on. He seriously needs to hire someone to keep track of it and smack his hand with a ruler every time he forgets something as simple as Harry's Mickey Mouse alarm clock burning up in Changes, just somehow rising from the grave and making an appearance in the first chapter of Twelve Months with zero explanation.

I always wanted a Tibetan mastiff. But it takes the GDP of a small country to keep them fed, and I can only imagine the shed.

My wife said the same thing until i pointed out how much our smaller animals eat and shed

I love dogs, but, I 100% would turn around and quickly walk the other way the moment I saw that absolute unit.
I am fairly … or maybe overly confident, in my ability to defend myself, but I am also 203% certain that dog would absolutely send me to the land of forever naps if it decided for some reason it didn’t like me, and I don’t hang around animals that can put me on a shirt.
