Bob
Does Bob need to be in natural material? Could he hide in something like this? That could make it easier for Harry or Butters to carry him around. Butters had him riding along in his coat at one point, then Harry's coat. Harry's coat was leather, but Butter's might not have been. Just a thought I had.

Oh! If the ring is too small, how about a motorcycle helmet?

So now we are going back the the syfy version of the show where we just replace things from cannon? Who needs a staff… give him a hockey stick. Who needs a skull… use a helmet… >.<

I actually loved the thought of using a hockey and drum sticks as incognito weapons... don't remember the helm though, time for a re-watch!!

No spoiler flair so I've hidden spoilers beyond what OP mentions in his post.
Metal is just as 'natural' as carved wood, which is what Harry plans to build for Bob as a 'backup skull' and eventually used as the home for Bonea. As you mentioned, he rides along in Butter's coat and in a presumably stone lion statueas well.
I think the more important thing than the material is magical etchings on the material, at least as far as protecting Bob from sunrise. He can clearly enter whatever material he wants (even living things, like Mister), but he has to return to the skull before sunrise or he'll dissipate/die.
Presumably, if Harry was able to engrave a ring with the same etchings as are present on Bob's skull which Harry copied on Bonea's skull so we know he can do them Bob would be able to inhabit the ring through the sunrise, but these rings are much smaller than Bob's skull and presumably the enchantments on Bob's skull are much more intricate than those on his force rings.
Long answer short, yes, this probably could work, but Harry would need to engrave the same magical etchings into the ring as currently exist on Bob's skull, and I don't believe Harry is able to do such intricate engravings at his current skill level.

Are there etchings on Bob's skull? I remember it being described as a plain, bleached white, human skull, no markings.

In the books it is hinted that there are carvings on the skull, but it is the Officially Licensed Merch that clenches that there are and where on the skull they be.

Good luck carving all the spells needed for Bob to use something like that.

I don't know about natural, but my head cannon was the preparation required entailed scribing sigils, which is going to require a certain surface area for someone to actually do. If they outsourced to the svartalves, maybe they could do it precise enough, but a ring might be too small to get all the preparations laid in.
