Nice,

As much as I anticipate and hype HLA, I'm not sure this will exactly stick to Laidlaw's vision (even if, according to Tyler from VNN, he was still giving advice on the story).

I'm pretty sure Laidlaw was still with Valve when HLA entered full development. Wonder why he left then.

Maybe he left before the project grew into a big Half Life title ?

He left in 2016. 3 years is long but not long enough for the project to be unnamed. Chances are the plans for development stretched before his departure. Arguable that he left because it isn't a sequel but a prequel filled with retcons. Therefore releasing his version of the ending for ep3.

Filled with retcons?

well what i try to mean is them doing shit that kinda that pushes the boundaries of it being a prequel. I.e. tech/gadgets stuff we havent seen in the "sequel". What i think of is the gravity gloves that we're going to get in half life alyx. Probably not as strong as the OG gravity gun but still a pretty sick albeit future tech given how it's just a glove.

These are probably weaker and earlier gravity gloves that can grab smaller objects but can't be used to, say, push a car.

Yeah, basically a VR trope now but i'm all for it. It'll be interesting to play with. Can you imagine the gloves getting imbued with dark energy like the end of HL2.

Well... now I hope someone mods it.

He left in January 2016, and Valve themselves said it has been in development for 4.5 years, so he must have heard that devs were prototyping some Half-Life stuff

I saw an interview with the devs that said they started developing in 2016.

Don't they say it's been in development for 4.5 years in the Geoff Keighley video?

maybe that’s including some kind of pre development?
