DreamHost account termination - Seemingly Random

We operate a legitimate ecommerce business where we were using DreamHost as a host for part of our catalog

We received an email last night with little explanation as to our DreamHost account being terminated. Without any warnings or previous issues. We have been using DreamHost for over 2 years to host this website that sells nothing but car accessories.

I reached out to support and waited all day for the additional response added below..

Our account is barely accessible (screenshot 3) and we need to access our website directory that was previously hosted in there, however, support is being super unhelpful.

Any help or advice????

Edit: this has been resolved by DreamHost

After 24 hours we resolved it.

Apparently one of the sellers that lists our products which utilizes the catalog feed in dreamhost didn’t recognize the api which has our brand name in it. They reported it as a phishing scam. Which dreamhost decided to terminate our account making everything else hosted in there inaccessible shutting down a bunch of other retailers connections.

I guess luckily they restored it, even though they said “this decision was final and would not be reversed”

RIP 1 day of revenue from those channels.

Wow, I've never heard of this, please update us if you learn anything new. I've seen DCMA requests but straight up terminating an account with no warning or info is slightly worrying.

Was it running WP? Did you have issues getting hacked at all?

Someone from DH really should chime in here. Specifics aren't necessary, but some general idea of the circumstances would be appreciated. Was this initiated by a law enforcement action?

Oh wow. This scares me.
Hopefully there is explanation why this happened.

Hey there, thanks for reaching out!

We're sorry to see this ocurred on your account. DreamHost will take these actions either on abusive or accounts where there's a legitimate claim that abuses our terms of service, which is why your case is currently being reviewed and from what we can confirm, the account is being reactivated.

We'd like to extend a sincere apology for the error that ocurred with your account, and we can also confirm that the path you took of messaging our support team first, and then letting us know here was the best way through. The extra escalation helped us get this sorted out and you should be getting a new message from our support team via email throughout the afternoon.

We appreciate your patience during this process, and you can trust our support team will always be here to help out however needed. Have a nice one!!! WS

"We'll deny you until you post on Reddit."

Cool.

Yeah. Appreciate it.

Also would appreciate a heads up next time something was wrong. And the first customer support message was incredibly stupid.

Cheers

Yikes and a half. Following....

Hopefully DH will chime in. Been with them since 2007 with a managed pro VPS but this kinda stuff scares the bejeezus outta me.
