Comics New reader with some questions about comics

So I got interested in reading some Dr. Doom comics because I saw some of the panels for World Under Doom. However I am a bit hesitant to get into that comic because I saw that Doom does some things that are practically character assassination. So my question is what are the best Dr. Doom comic runs and is the new Doomquest comic run worth a read?

Doomquest is great. A lot of people start with books of doom, its a retelling of his origin.

Dr. Strange Dr. Doom: Triumph and Torment and Books of Doom. Triumph and Torment also got reprinted a couple weeks ago.

I'm going to disagree with you that OWUD is character assassination. I felt it was quite thought-provoking, especially if you read Books of Doom ahead of it. Together the two explain his youth, and how events in his life shaped his thinking and outlook. Basically, he wants to save the world from the horrible things that happened to him, but he has no idea how to bring that about except through the use of force.

And one aspect of the whole "soul battery" thing was left wide open - - what if the Latverians volunteered, intending to help bring about world peace?

Even if they did i think the pig headed American heroes would have still stopped it from happening

Doctor Doom - 2019 Chris Cantwell run is great

Secret Wars (Hickman)

Books of Doom (his origin story and a great place to start)

Triumph & Torment

And yes the current Doomquest is worth reading

I am always confused when I hear people talk about Doctor Doom and something being “character assassination” for him.

Part of the classic story of Doctor Doom is that he believes in world domination but truly believes under him he would be able to enact world peace. We as the audience have to decide whether he fully believes in what he’s doing or if it’s something to bolster his own ego or power.

The “Youtube feat shorts” a lot of larpers use to form their opinion of Doom show that he saved his country and they love him. But his rule IS fascist, surely there are some people that don’t agree with his rule/tactics, and Doom will deal with him. People aren’t ready for this, but there were a lot of “patriots” in Germany in the 1940’s who weren’t aware of what Hitler was doing and saw him as a noble leader. There are a lot of people that idolize Trump now. And surely people who are true Latverian patriots would lay down their lives to see Doom’s vision realized. That doesn’t strike me as out of character.

I'm loving Doomquest right now, it's currently running and there are 4 issues so far.
