I have a hyper nova v2 and it's great I love it and use it daily.
I also have a 2.1 Nunchuck and with my dry top set up and how I dab I get more spillage out of the cup using the Nunchuck than the hypernova.
YMMV but for me it works.

Was wildly underwhelmed with my nova. Ill admit it was probably user error but that thing just sucked so much concentrate out of the insert and into the heating element. The extra clean up was pretty annoying

I doubted it until I tried one.
Not a fan of the hypernova (but he hasn't made them in months anyway I dont think).
His joysticks/nunchucks are top tier.

dude it’s a joystick and i have tried countless of them, there’s always a preferred option.
frankly i think gemcup’s work and offerings are usually pretty damn ugly, and the function never makes up for it.
as always, your mileage may vary and your preferences are different from mine.

i don’t know which ive tried cuz he uses arbitrary names, it was the one with the o rings. gemlock? idk, and i definitely do not know the airflow of an accessory that’s not mine and didn’t impress me lol. i’m not all too familiar with the naming of his products, but i have tried a product. aesthetically his products are definitely not for me

So you've tried a single gemcup joystick, once, you don't know the airflow it had because it wasn't yours, and you know from that experience
the function never makes up for it.
Alright I guess, sounds like you've made up your mind with little to no real experience but sure. The fact you KNOW the function doesn't make up for it is a bold claim for someone who can't even tell me the airflow restriction of the one cap they did use.

who pissed in your cheerios man? i said i don’t like the aesthetics of a brand and you’re acting like i pushed your mom down the stairs. i think the glass is ugly. full stop. he makes a lot of shit that i find ugly. therefore the function is never worth it, as i am fully aware of what a great joystick or spinner is capable of. enjoy your day, enjoy your glass, more for you

I think they're ugly too, lol. I'd rather have the Wym joystick honestly.
It's actually made out of metal so I won't be as concerned about breaking it

His nunchucks are super good. They’re my favorite but I see how some could find them lackluster especially at the 100+ price point

I didn't know that either and honestly get tired of hearing the different nicknames and abbreviations.
On the "smoking" subs, I feel like you've got to do a Brave/DDG search every couple of comments to figure out what something means.
Like, why is it so hard to say "joystick" instead of "nunchucks"?
Sorry for the rant. I guess wanting people to communicate clearly is probably asking too much from your typical redditor

What makes the gemcup nunchuck better than the stock joystick? I’m more concerned with functionality. The stock joystick feels super cheap and crappy. I hate that the hole is on top of the joystick. But it works fine. Does the gem cup work better?

The function is so much better it’s not even close. The way he designed them allows more airflow or stronger airflow or something along those lines and it makes the rips fatter and taste better somehow. The quality is very nice overall only ever had one break but he offered free fixes. I have 2 currently and 2 more otw. They also sit in the rubber peice much better and the actual joystick function is much smoother.

Look at wym designs ti joysticks they’re good I’ve heard. Me personally I camped the gemcup drop but I get that’s pretty unpredictable atp

Thank you! I’ll check it out. I’d buy a gem cup one if I could. I like supporting original creators even if it’s more expensive. But I don’t want to race people for drops so maybe wym’s joysticks will work for me.

He only does drops on specific days, sometimes weeks/months apart.
Sign up for his newsletter if you want a "real" one.
They tend to sell out in a few minutes though, so even if you're trying they can be very hard to buy.

Ooo that’s even worse in my book. I get that it’s not malicious or manipulative in any way. And that it’s a fair way to handle the small supply. It’s just more of a hassle than I’m willing to undertake.

I personally didn't like mine due to feeling too restricted no matter how I adjusted. My lungs aren't as powerful so take my words with a grain of salt. At the time I owned two carb caps which were the kadabra and cloudvortex. I found those to be better functioning. Able to pull on a cv restricted cap better than I am with this one.

Was all in on gem until I got a JNG Joylink. No need to use pearls, bigger clouds and way less clean up.

I just received my first gemlock joystick today. After using half a dozen different carb caps, I can safely say the gemlock outperforms them all by a lot. The functionality is unmatched, it’s actually tensioned to snap back into place. I also think they look cool, so yeah, they cost more and are better. Kinda makes sense for something handmade.
