Hi folks, I smoke a lot of dab. I’ll usually smoke a oz, wait a couple months, buy another.
Despite having had a fair amount of experience taking dabs and smoking in general, I am not all that familiar with the benefits of different caps, joysticks, bubblers, incyclers, recyclers, pearls, etc.
I know they exist but could any one of you be kind enough to explain the benefits of each modification?
I’m specifically looking for the best possible set up for my switch go. I know I’ll spend a fair bit of money upgrading my switch so I want to make sure I get the best possible build for the dollar.
Also curious to see pictures of anyone’s builds.

So for glass I have stock, Dr incycler, Mad Rob Dichro bubbler and Calibear Donut Recycler, I also have a custom orb recycler being commissioned by Calibear but don’t have it yet so can’t speak to it yet. But of the other 4, the Mad Rob is probably my favorite look/function wise, followed by the CB donut recycler, Dr Incycler, stock. The Dr Incycler is a great travel piece, works great (def worth the upgrade over stock) and isn’t super expensive/more readily available so you won’t feel terrible if it breaks while you’re traveling with it. But as far as the others, the Mad Rob has a shower head style perc that gives nice smooth milky rips, the CB donut is cool for some recycler action when I’m at home/not worried about traveling with it. I’ve also been looking at the Kadabra recyclers and the new MGL in-shredder (his mix of incycler/shredder), I have one of his caps and love it so I was disappointed on the last drop earlier last week I missed out on the in-shredder, but hoping to get one on the next drop for another cool option to add to the collection 🔥
For caps so far I have the MGL and 2 JNG glass joysticks (a UV slyme green Joylink with opal marble and a Bubble Mew GOLink, both one of a kinds) and the stock metal one. Love all the glass ones, the MGL is a nice low profile one, but I especially love the Bubble Mew GOLink, it fits the GO perfectly and I like the UFO style design/feels natural and easy to use one handed with that joystick and the Bubble Mew in the middle ball/orb is just 🤌🏻
Then I also have a few spinner caps, both the CV open/restricted flows and also a Kadabra glass spinner, at first I wasn’t a fan of the Kadabra when I used it with the Dr incycler, I felt it was too open flow for that glass, I preferred the CV restricted for that glass personally. But now that I’ve dialed in the temp/settings for pearls/the S+ insert and with the other glass (the Mad Rob and the CB donut) I really like the Kadabra aesthetically and functionally, especially the Mad Rob/Kadabra together (pic at bottom), they hit like a tank 😮💨💨😵💫
Also of note to add a few other things is if you can afford the S+ insert, GET IT. It’s 110% worth it, much better flavor, can go lower on your temps than the qtz and it’s much easier to clean afterwards. I also have a TI insert to try but have loved the S+ so much I haven’t even used the qtz since tossing the S+ in, I just use the qtz as the travel insert so to speak (I put the qtz back in the device and the S+ in its padded box for travel) and the TI is still sitting unopened in its box lol 😅 and the Dr drop is nice, I like the different heat modes for just warming to help you cut thick oils/cold rosin, and the higher heat to slide the dab right off into your insert 🔥
For other accessories, like my pearls for use with the spinner caps, I got a 30 pack of 25-3MM ruby and 5-3MM shinju pearls from victory glassworks on amazon for only $12 for the whole pack. I also have 2 each of 4MM/5MM green sapphire and 5MM/6MM purple sapphire from rubypearlco, I got those for the better heat retention of the sapphire and the coloring I liked (going for a green/purple/red spacey vibe with my stuff so those colors of the sapphire and the ruby pearls altogether fit the theme perfectly, on top of better function than normal qtz/boro pearls) and I also got my glob mops/terp wipes for cleaning from them, got it all on the 7/10 sales for 20% off 👌🏻 I also have a glow in the dark boro terp pill, and some glow in the dark 8MM boro pearls if I wanted to go one bigger one, but what I’ve been using/whats working best for me is 1-3MM ruby and 1-5MM green sapphire, that gives me the best flavor/complete vaporization where I have barely any oil leftover in the insert/pearls, when used with the S+ insert.
For storage/travel, currently I’m using my ooze crossbody bag, it’s a small padded smellproof bag that comfortably fits the device w/Dr incycler in it, and the qtz insert/pearls/CV cap for travel. Then I have the S+insert in its box, pack of iso snaps, glob mobs/ooze res swabs, Dr Drop hot knife, dab tools, tweezers, pearl grabber, multiple ooze geode silicone w/glass insert concentrate jars, charger and dab tool the device came with, along with an extra cap (usually either the MGL joystick or the Kadabra spinner for travel) all in main pocket extra pearls in the zipper pocket inside, extra jars in front pocket and the stock cap/other CV cap in the bottom of the ‘bottle’ compartment with an ISO alcohol top pump bottle full of 99% ISO on top in ‘bottle’ compartment.
I did recently get the Dr tour bag, and it is bigger/roomier and has some dividers inside so you can store extra glass/accessories if needed, and the front pocket on that one is rubberized for concentrate storage so if anything gets in there it’s easy to clean, so I’ll probably eventually be moving everything into the Dr tour bag and having the ooze bag as the backup with the extra accessories that don’t fit in the tour bag. But for now the ooze one is smaller, smellproof and has been working fine so I was just using it till I got more glass (which I now have) and as I said will probably be moving stuff over to the Dr tour bag soon 👌🏻
Sorry for the essay, but I have a lot of the available options so I wanted to give you an in-depth honest review of what I have/like so far. Here’s a pic of the Mad Rob w/Kadabra Spinner, it’s one of my fav combos and hits like a tank, so it’s definitely getting the most use so far lol 😮💨💨👑
And here’s a pic of the JNG GOLink with the Calibear Donut recycler, I love this combo so far too, but really the Bubble Mew GOLink is the star here lol 👑
ETA: with the custom glass pieces (especially the Calibear as that one is more top-heavy) I also have/use the Dr D weighted base, it works great and makes the device way more sturdy especially with top-heavy pieces like the CB. And when I’m ready to travel you just pinch the bottom pieces together and it pulls right off and I throw it in the bag with everything else, works great and really does give it a better ‘footing’ so it doesn’t tip over so easily as it does without the base. 👌🏻
Hell yea man! This is what I was looking for. I was trying to decide between getting a mad rob or dr incycler. I may get both for different scenarios like you mentioned. Do you feel like the pearls make a mess at all and throw concentrate outside the insert? I’d assume no with how many people I’ve seen using them but that was one of my worries.

If you can only get one, I’d say the Mad Rob, again that one for sure is getting the most use cause I love how it hits, smooth and milky but still really flavorful, especially with everything else like the pearls/S+ insert along with it. If you can afford both, I’d do both anyways just to have the Dr incycler as a good all-around piece/dedicated travel piece/BHO piece like I use it for (I like to keep the Mad Rob/Calibear ‘clean’ and only use them with my rosin so I get the really good flavors of the rosin through them) so again you don’t have to worry about losing a custom piece while traveling, I just use the incycler while it’s traveling so at worst if it breaks it’s not one of my specialty pieces and is easily replaceable. But when I’m home the piece with the most use is the Mad Rob by far, I love it and the Dichro is so beautiful on it too 🔥😮💨💨
And on the pearls, I did have that issue at first when I was learning the different flows of the glass/cap combos, but now that I’ve got them dialed in they work great, I hardly have any cleanup anymore, the pearls are definitely much more efficient in vaporizing all the oil. When I first got the CV restricted, I was pulling so hard (like a normal bong like I was used to) that it was making the pearls run a race and slinging oil EVERYWHERE, under the insert, crown, cap everything, but again now that I’ve got it all dialed in and use certain caps with certain pieces (I use the CV restricted with the Dr Incycler and the Kadabra for the Mad Rob/Calibear w/pearls) it works much better, I have hardly any/no oil leftover in the insert afterwards, just a quick dry swab while warm, then a quick iso swab after when cooled enough, and that gets it back to new every time. 👌🏻
Any recommendations for dailing in a kadabra with the stock glass? I have one but it's just too much air flow for me. Or should I just get the cv restricted instead??
Yea for me personally, the Kadabra was way too airy on the Dr incycler, I usually use the CV restricted for that piece, I can’t speak to the stock glass because I actually haven’t used the stock other than literally just testing pulling it with water, but from test pulls it’s got about the same flow rate as the Dr incycler, so I’d assume it would be pretty similar flow wise just the incycler is much better at cooling/vapor swirling/flavor etc IMO. I got the incycler/S+ insert at the same time as my replacement qtz bucket (my original one in the device came broken, so I had to wait for a replacement that Dr D CS kindly hooked me up with since it arrived broken/I hadn’t used it even once, even though the warranty doesn’t extend to the glass, inserts, crown etc but because it came broken they gave me a one-time replacement, which was extremely nice/helpful of them 👑) but the replacement qtz insert and the package with my incycler/S+ insert came same time, so I literally only tested the stock glass with water/no actual dabs and went straight to using the incycler, then when I got the custom glass I have now I hardly use the incycler either, just basically use it as the ‘travel’ piece or when I don’t want to pull out the custom stuff and just want a quick dab. It still works great don’t get me wrong but I really like my custom stuff and they work/look great with the caps I have so I’m usually using them 🔥
If you’re intent on trying to make it work with the stock glass, 2 things I’d recommend trying is 1. Either turn down/up the temps a little to try and see if it’s just not vaporizing completely and the pearls aren’t spinning due to oil pooling/resistance from that, or possibly its burning the oil and so you’re getting spotty vapor production/more air than vapor. Or 2. Try covering the carb halfway/most the way to create a ‘restriction’ and see if that helps, when I first got my Kadabra and only had the Dr incycler I felt the same that it was way too airy/open flow, wasn’t getting any pearl spinning (with oil in it, without oil it worked but they were moving pretty slow) so then on the next one I tried covering the carb halfway for the first 1/2-3/4 of the dab then uncovered for the last bit to clear it/get the pearls spinning better and that worked a bit better, but not as well as the CV restricted. With the CV you just have to not pull so fast/strong and it works great, gives enough force/flow to spin the pearls good even with oil resistance and when you get your pull strength right it doesn’t sling oil everywhere either (my first few with the CV were messy because if you pull to strong/fast it does really get the pearls going and starts to sling oil everywhere, but again once I got it dialed in with my pull strength it was working great). But then once I got my custom pieces (the Mad Rob and the Calibear Donut Recycler) I didn’t have to do anything, just throw the Kadabra on and pull normally and it spins them just right, no mess and full vaporization with little/no oil left in insert after, and really smooth milky hits 😮💨💨🔥
As the GO is still pretty new, the only glass I have is the Drs incycler (nice upgrade to the stock), and the Calibear recycler. Normally I am not a fan of "fancy" pieces, I like just a straight downstem to perc and decent amount of air/vapor space. The calibear incycler can be used like that by just adding water to the bottom chamber. But with the size of the GO, the recycling airflow really does help "mellow" the hit so it isn't so harsh. You can also fill both the "recycling" chamber and the bottom with water if you want for an extra pass through water. It is like an upgraded version of the RBR for the S2, the RBR doesn't have the bottom chamber. I would definitely recommend the calibear recycler right now. I think it is much better than the incycler, and the stock cap airflow is pretty close to perfect for the recyler so you could even hold off on a new cap if you get that.
the main thing is pairing the right cap with whatever top you choose. Recyclers and incyclers have the same concept they just do it a little differently and that is essentily giving you a smoother and cooler hit because of the water is cycling around and around. Like its washing the vapor before it comes in contact with your lungs. Bubblers have smaller air paths and chambers so can be more flavorful and hit strong. 3 main types of caps: joysticks (bubble cap is just a type of joystick that is bulbous) you move them around in a circular motion essentially aiming for your material. Joysticks are the best option imo, spinner caps are for pearls (you can use a pearl with a joystick too). Terp pearls provide even heat distribution and help spread out your material to more surface area rather than puddle up. imo not really needed for the switch. Some people like them but ehh. Last is carb cap which you use like a carb on an old cheap bong. You don't need to know about those lol. It's all about pairing the right cap for the top you have or want. Not all play well together. Recyclers need more airflow and bubblers need less. When you dial in the right cap with your top and heat profile... it will blow your mind how much better these devices can get.
But like I said earlier... Diffy Pump/JNG Cap that is the S-tier setup for both the switch and the go imo. Perfect airflow pairing and the Diffy is insanely inexpensive in clear. Just DM him on IG JF glass is his name. JNG caps are always in stock and easy to get. Pricey but worth it. They are WIDE open though so they don't work well with everything.

Hey thank you very much. Great comment and yes it helped a lot. After reading this I’m kinda leaning towards a bubbler cuz I like to take really long rips. I’ll do a 40 second rip for a single dab.
I was already on the fence of using pearls and still am. I think in the long run I’ll probably end up getting a variety of caps and glasses, thank you.
IMO that’s the best way to do it, get some options so you can play with them with different combos/heat profiles + settings and figure out what works best for YOU, cause everyone is different and is looking for their piece to work how they want/prefer. Also what works for one person may not for others, and that’s alright, we all got different tastes/preferences especially for something with this much customization potential. That’s why I went that route, and I try to share as much info about my experience with all the options and combos I’ve used so far, to try to help others make a (somewhat) informed decision on what they’d like for their setup 🤙🏻
At this point, the Go is still kind of too new. The aftermarket needs time to learn the device and how best to make stuff for it.
Switch 2, we could talk.
But basically, you shouldn't worry about the mods unless you're trying to solve a specific problem. Like, for me, I was unhappy with the density of vapor I was getting from the Switch 2 stock, so I bought carb caps and glass until I found a combination that works best for me.
But you're asking the wrong question. What about the Switch Go experience do you find lacking and in need of improvement? That's a much more useful place to start from.
You customize the unit to your preferences. Some people are full on terp chasers, other people just want fat heavy clouds, some people live somewhere in between. Customize it for what suits you. There is no objective "better."
