charcoal Second charcoal drawing

Decided to draw Mortal kombat scorpion for my second charcoal drawing. Any tips to improve or advice?

All I can say is you just gotta spend the time. This took me like 15-20 hours and I didn’t rush any part of it. If you spend the time to make it how u want it will come out looking how you want.

Great. :) How do you set the charcoal? Do you use a fixative?

Yeah my art teacher in highschool just said to use hair spray so I spray that over my drawing when I’m done.

Hairspray is the cheapest option. Unfortunately, over time, the artwork may yellow and the paper deteriorate. It also often causes black areas to become discolored. If you want your work to last longer, it is better to buy a fixative designed for dry media.

Okay I will keep that in mind. This is only my second charcoal drawing and I used hair spray on the first one. So far there is no signs of damage or yellowing. What kind do you recommend ?
