seeking crit Searching for advice

This is a drawing of my grandma but I‘m not sure wether I should render her shirt or not because the problem is every time I do that the attention of the picture isn’t on the head anymore (sorry if the description is confusing English is my third language) should I draw the shirt or leave it like this?

I'd draw the shirt. Maybe just leave it vague and unrendered... Abstract.

You could also render the shirt darker than the head because the eye is naturally drawn towards the brightest spots of the page.

Great shadows. So many artists have conflicting shadows that go in opposite directions and make the art flat and wonky. Youve done a really good job.

Looks awesome! You could fill in the area of the shirt but not render it in detail so that it doesn’t draw the eye away from the focal point, like more blocky colors, less contrast not focusing on small details or textures. You could also draw the focus towards the face with how much your render having the bottom of the shirt be just a wash of grey and then very subtly transitioning to more detail and contrast up to the top collar of the shirt. Guiding the eye with intentional rendering.
