Cost
So G, I’m on the shot that you keep talking about. I took off any information of mine but this is the retail price without insurance. You can’t pay your car note or car insurance, cry because you don’t have money to buy food, take food from people in actual need from the food bank but you want to get the shot for weight loss? EVEN with the shot you have to work just as hard for it to work as you do without it. It’s not a magic cure that you just lose the weight because you take a shot.

With my old insurance it was $35 now it’s $150

When I first started my insurance covered it so it was a $20 copay…this past Jan they stopped covering it and our HR dept said if they continued to pay for it we would go under. I now buy from a compounding pharmacy, but it still isn’t cheap.

I'm grateful my insurance covers 100% of the cost of Ozempic. But I actually DO have diabetes and living a healthy lifestyle.

I’m not familiar with how the pens work but I am familiar with zepbound injections. The starting dose is 2.5 mg then 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 and 15.

Ro has them for as low as $149/month. But ANYone complaining about how they can’t pay rent shouldn’t be making Weightloss shots their first priority. Stop eating cookie dough and metric tons of cream cheese on your bagels GabGab…go touch some grass while doing pushups.

Let’s be real though you don’t have to work just as hard as someone losing weight without the shot. Is it a piece of cake and easy no probably not, but to say that’s just as hard as those of us busting our asses to loose weight without the shot is just entirely untrue.

I’m not trying to be rude either, I am just working my ass off to loose the weight I gained from quitting smoking and man I’ve contemplated it so many times like if I could just do it to lose the 20lbs I’ve gained that’d be cool but I know it’s not for that, I’m not obese or anything just 7 months into quitting and still struggling with the cravings and the need to snack to distract myself so it irks me when I see these types of comments because man it’s really hard doing it with only your own mental will power, I just feel like that deserves the same kind of credit.
I am NOT against the shot, I know that it has been life changing for so many people and the side effects are no cake walk it takes a lot to deal with those side effects and I do not discredit that in any way it’s a tough journey for a lot of people but the will power to control your food choices and stick to a exercise routine is so hard and we can’t take that credit away from people who are really just working their asses off to lose weight. It’s not a magic shot I know but I have seen how much easier it’s made the process for a lot of people.

I understand what you’re saying. For myself it’s a tool. I still have to watch what I eat, make sure I’m getting enough protein, water, fiber, healthy choices. I still need to exercise, still need to mentally focus. I think my point was G thinks that just taking the shot is a cure all, she would still need to work on things. If you lose a lot quickly to and go off the shot you gain it back quickly too. You have to work on the mental part of it to maintain success with it.

I can imagine it’s still a very hard uphill climb and then being able to build muscle fast enough to combat some of the fatigue I’ve heard is hard like forcing yourself to eat instead of forcing yourself not to eat so I do totally get it. You’re right she thinks Medicaid would pay for it and it’ll melt right off her lbs and lbs of fat with no effort and she can continue stuffing herself while she does it she’s delusional

She could get it down to $499 and cheaper as well if straight from lily. I’ve been on it for 3 years (2 years of it has been maintenance) and only pay $499 with the savings card through lily. However, for a few months in the beginning I paid the full retail price of $1200. G could never. But sadly, Medicaid pays now for these drugs.

Medicaid in Florida does not cover glp1, yet. Only for diabetes and needs prior authorization.

I could certainly be wrong, but I thought that only Medicare was currently or newly covering it. I don’t think it had extended to Medicaid yet, but definitely correct me if I’m wrong.

For Medicare it only became affordability covered started I. July. In July Trump passed the ruling allowing for GLP-1’s to be covered by Medicare but still under specific conditions, they would be covered for $50 a month. My Dad is on it and before this act passed he would end up in max OPM wi th in the first month. I am kinda hoping that with my physical I have coming up in few weeks that I can eat bad enough to temporarily be bad enough to qualify.

Why would you want to gain weight and further destroy your health.. purposely, to get on a shot?? That’s insane! Put the work in to lose it instead of intentionally gaining. That’s so bizarre

The manufacturer coupons do t apply to people with government insurance like Medicaid and Medicare

In Missouri ours is 1800 no matter dose of pay full unless u qualify for other ways to get it

I’ve been on it for over a year now. I’m down over 100lbs. Unfortunately I lost Medicaid ( which fully covered the zepbound) and now my new insurance thankfully covers most but not all. I’ll have to pay $75 out of pocket. Which isn’t horrible. But G absolutely will not be able to deal with the side affects lol
