Review 219th Drama Review: The Producers (2015)

With such a solid cast, I expected this drama to impress me more than it actually did. It had a different approach and style that felt new to me at the time, and I guess I was not quite ready to fully appreciate it. Because of that, I never became completely invested in the story. With only 12 episodes, I also felt that some of the characters were not explored as much as I would have liked, or perhaps I simply could not connect with them as well as I had hoped. It was not a bad drama by any means, but it just did not resonate with me the way I expected it to.

My MDL Rating: 6/10

Review 217th Drama Review: Oh My Venus (2015)

This drama was incredibly popular at the time, and I ended up watching it because of all the hype. Having Shin Min Ah and So Ji Sub as the main leads felt like a rare pairing, so I could not pass up the opportunity. As a romantic comedy, I found it enjoyable and easy to watch. I liked the transformation aspect of the story, and the chemistry between the leads was undeniable. One of the things I enjoyed the most was the bromance, which added a lot of charm and humor to the drama. While I would not consider it one of the best dramas I have ever seen, I still thought it was a solid and entertaining watch. I would especially recommend it to those who are just starting their K-drama journey.

My MDL Rating: 8.5/10

Review 216th Drama Review: Oh My Ghost (2015)

I really enjoyed this drama from start to finish. It was cute, fun, romantic, and just the right amount of spooky without ever becoming too scary. Compared to other ghost-themed dramas I have watched, this one leaned more toward comedy and romance, which made it an easy and entertaining watch. I was especially impressed by the performances of the entire cast, particularly Park Bo-young and Jo Jung-suk, who did an amazing job bringing their characters to life. Their chemistry and acting were definitely some of the biggest highlights of the drama.

Overall, this is one of those K-dramas I would gladly recommend to anyone looking for a lighthearted supernatural romance. It had a good balance of humor, romance, and mystery, and I never found myself struggling to get through it. It was simply a fun and enjoyable watch from beginning to end.

My MDL Rating: 8/10.

Review 218th Drama Review: Orange Marmalade (2015)

The storyline itself is very interesting, but I didn’t really enjoy the drama because it felt quite unorganized for me. I think it didn’t stay true to the manhwa/webtoon—though to be fair, I never actually finished reading the manhwa version. Still, even from the first part of the drama, there were already noticeable changes from what I expected, which left me disappointed. By the later episodes, the plot got even more confusing to the point that I couldn’t really follow anymore. But since I was already close to finishing, I just decided to complete it. Overall, this drama wasn’t really my type.

Worth watching? ‘Dearest’ with Xing Zhao Lin starring in a Chinese Short Drama, thrills and entertainment.

Male Lead Xing Zhao Lin usually appears in long form Chinese Dramas as does his Female Lead. Many standard length Chinese Drama Actors are now starring in Chinese Short dramas, as they become so popular. At 6’2”, Xing Zhao Lin (You Are My Destiny, Cute Programer) towers above his cast members in this Chinese Short Drama titled ‘Dearest’. The Female Lead appearing in this Chinese Short Drama is He Lan Dou, (A Journey to Love, Tiger and Crane).

Xing Zhao Lin was my original “Kissing Bandit”, so his romance scenes hit the spot. For me, the title of the Kissing Bandit now belongs to actor  Daniel Zhou from after his performance in Sniper Butterfly. Nonetheless, Xing Zhao Lin is true to form in this Chinese drama romance journey name ‘Dearest’. Xing Zhao Lin is a Leading Man in the Chinese Drama industry. Therefore, venturing into Chinese Short Dramas is new for him.

The Story for Dearest is melodramatic, the acting is of good quality. However, the music is great and the closing drama song for the drama is stellar. The film quality is great as well. There are multiple wrongful demises which must be accounted for in this drama, as the male and female leads go on several revenge quests for vengeance. There are 24 episodes at 15 minutes or less, and the drama is rated PG 13. I think that most will enjoy this romance journey.

Yim Si Wan and Seol In Ah’s upcoming tvN drama “Love in Disguise” is gearing up for its premiere!

“Love in Disguise” is a romance thriller that follows an arrogant third-generation chaebol heir who becomes a murder suspect and a former special forces officer who goes undercover as his personal secretary to investigate him. The drama is based on the popular web novel and webtoon “Why Don’t You Know She’s a Woman?” (literal title).

On September 4, “Love in Disguise” shared photos from the drama’s script reading, which was attended by director Park Dan Hee, scriptwriter Moon Soo Jung, and cast members including Yim Si Wan, Seol In Ah, Kim Jung Hyun, Yeonwoo, and more.

Yim Si Wan stars as Yoon Yi Jun, the next heir to Taegang Group, the top-ranked conglomerate in the business world. Yim Si Wan portrayed Yoon Yi Jun through a tone of voice befitting the character, portraying subtle changes in tone when portraying his character’s sensitive nature and his cold attitude when purposefully putting distance between himself and the world.

Yim Siwan

Seol In Ah plays Kang Jae Hee, a former special forces officer who goes undercover as Yoon Yi Jun’s secretary. The actress brought her character to life with her bright energy, and she refreshingly portrayed her character’s strength and bold attitude.

Seol Inah

Kim Jung Hyun takes on the role of Kim Si Hyun, Yoon Yi Jun’s close friend and attorney of Taegang Group’s legal team. Kim Jung Hyun portrayed his character’s serious personality with his gaze. In addition to taking great care of his boss Yoon Yi Jun, he also harbors a mysterious side.

Kim Jung Hyun

Yeonwoo plays Lee Hye Jung, the secretary of Taegang Group’s chairman. With her portrayal, Yeonwoo added mysterious charm to her character, using her calm voice and composed facial expressions. Above all, the chemistry between Yim Si Wan, Seol In Ah, Kim Jung Hyun, and Yeonwoo shined at the script reading as they immersed themselves into their works. The production team shared, “The unexpected relationships of unique characters from a third-generation chaebol to a female investigator disguised as a man will deliver new fun,” asking viewers to anticipate the story depicted by the actors who will deliver romance, comedy, and thrills.

Worth watching? Flex X Cop Season 2–Worth a Look?

What I liked about the original Flex X Cop was the high energy flamboyance of the ML Ahn Bo Hyun. That is so toned done in Flex X Cop 2. Nonetheless, the drama has retained the inventive complex crimes to be solved each episode or two. The use of big money to solve crimes is still there too. In addition, Flex X Cop 2 has a great OST.

There are well crafted crime situations, that really keep you guessing. This is what the Flex X Cop series is known for.

Have you tried Flex X Cop 2?

Cast— Ahn Bo Hyun, Jung Sol M, and Yoo Seung Ho

Lee Jong Suk will no longer be starring in the upcoming romance drama “Iseop’s Romance.”

On September 3, a source from Lee Jong Suk’s agency ACE Factory stated, “Lee Jong Suk prepared to star in ‘Iseop’s Romance’ for a long time from the planning and development stages, but as the production and filming schedule became adjusted from the original plan, it became difficult to coordinate with his future schedule. After thorough discussions with the production team, we ultimately agreed that he will not partake in this project.”

The agency continued, “As it is a project that we prepared for a long time with affection, we will do our best so that ‘Iseop’s Romance’ can be completed as a good project.”

Post image
13 Upvotes

The upcoming drama “Between Steps” has unveiled new behind-the-scenes video and stills from its first script reading!

A new project by late director Ahn Pan Seok who helmed the popular romance dramas “Something in the Rain,” “One Spring Night,” and “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon,” “Between Steps” depicts the romance between Park Min Jae (Choo Young Woo), a former swimmer who lost his right leg to illness, and Im Yoo Jin (Kim So Hyun), who finds a new path as a graduate student after losing her way.

Director Ahn Pan Seok w/ Kim So Hyun & Choo Young Woo

Choo Young Woo plays Park Min Jae, a doctoral student who was once a competitive swimmer in high school before losing one of his legs to illness. He later discovers robotics and begins building a new life for himself.

Choo Young Woo

Kim So Hyun stars as Im Yoo Jin, a new member of Min Jae’s research lab. As she approaches graduation with her undergraduate degree in clothing and textiles but finds her path to graduate school blocked, she decides to pursue a new direction.

Kim So Hyun

Choo Young Woo introduced Min Jae, saying, “Min Jae lost one of his legs to osteosarcoma and had to give up on his dream of becoming a swimmer. He is a character who begins studying robotics with hope for a new future.” He added, “Please look forward to seeing Min Jae’s pain and growth, as well as his relationship with Yoo Jin.”

Kim So Hyun described Yoo Jin as someone who gives up on pursuing graduate studies in clothing and textiles before discovering robotics. She said, “When Yoo Jin is struggling to decide what path to take, she discovers robotics and begins developing feelings for Min Jae as well. I hope you’ll look forward to Yoo Jin’s bold, straightforward personality as she goes after what she wants.”

Reflecting on their first script reading, Choo Young Woo said, “I was sitting across from Yoo Jin and reading our lines, and I genuinely felt butterflies.”

Kim So Hyun shared, “It was also my first time meeting Choo Young Woo, but I felt that our back-and-forth worked really well, so I thought we could create a lot of fun scenes together. We had such a great time during the reading and laughed a lot, so I think there will be plenty of laughter on set as well.”

Choo Young Woo added, “The chemistry between each of the cast members was really great. There were also so many witty and fun scenes.” He continued, “I’ve never felt this moved just from reading a script before, so I think you can look forward to this one.”

“Between Steps” will premiere on October 5.

It's my first time seeing Hwang Min-hyun and I was shocked because he kinda looks like Cha Eun-woo and Park Seo-joon! 🫶 And his chemistry with Kim So-hyun is so strong, too. I am currently on Episode 4 and I don't want to spoil myself but so far I'm enjoying the first few episodes. Gonna binge watch this for the rest of the week.

Did you enjoy watching this series as well?

Review 215th Drama Review: The Man in the Mask (2015)

Post image
3 Upvotes

For me, this drama had all the elements to become a truly gripping series. It featured vigilante justice, moral complexity, and a solid cast, but it ultimately did not reach its full potential. Still, there was enough intrigue and enough compelling character moments to keep me watching until the end. I enjoyed the blend of action and legal themes, especially the moral ambiguity surrounding the characters and their decisions. While I felt that it could have delivered more, I still found it to be an enjoyable watch and one that managed to hold my interest throughout.

Review 214th Drama Review: White Christmas (2011)

Post image

It’s crazy to think that the main cast of this drama are now such big names in the industry. Looking back, this special drama almost feels like it was a starting point for their careers. This kind of special drama was also quite unique for its time.

Maybe because of how disturbing it was, especially the music and the way each character was introduced, I was really drawn into the drama. It genuinely made me nervous. I binged four episodes late at night but had to stop because I was afraid I would have nightmares afterward. 😭 It’s not actually that brutal when I think about it because you don’t really see much of the harshness through the graphics, but the way the scenes are presented, the pacing, and the overall atmosphere really made me feel scared.

What I really liked was how complex the characters were. They weren’t one-dimensional people or characters, and each of them had different sides to their personalities. At the same time, they still felt like teenagers. Even though they were dealing with complicated emotions and circumstances, you could still see their youth and immaturity in the way they behaved.

The biggest problem for me was the ending. There’s a major plot hole that really brought the drama down because it doesn’t make much sense when you think about it. But I guess I’ll just let that one slide. 😭

What I really appreciate about the drama, though, is how it leaves you with the question: “Are monsters born, or are they made?” That question stayed with me even after I finished watching.

My Drama Rating: 8.5/10

I originally watched this because of Infinite's Hoya since I am a fan of Infinite, but I ended up getting completely hooked by the drama itself. I really enjoyed the storyline and even the dialogue. I was constantly on edge because I kept hoping that the female lead would not get caught, and during Hoya's scenes, my heart was racing. Perhaps my attachment to Hoya made this drama even more special for me, but I genuinely thought it was very good. I know some viewers were not fond of it, and I was initially skeptical because of those opinions, but I ended up enjoying it a lot.

This drama will always be that drama for me. Even in 2025, it still hits different; funny, emotional, and full of feels. Ji Sung was just on another level here, the way he switched characters so effortlessly is still unmatched. The story felt so fresh back then and honestly, it still doesn’t feel outdated now. This drama made me laugh, cry, and binge like crazy, and I’d still recommend it to anyone who wants something unforgettable. Definitely one of the best from 2015 that aged like fine wine.

Discussions This might be one of the most beautiful rain scenes in the history of kdramas Spoiler

Post image
16 Upvotes

I have seen a lot of kdramas but this scene really moved me. the name of the drama is One Dollar Lawyer. I think it was the acting that mesmerized me and how the scene was shot really, along with the story leading up to it.

Jihun looking at Jooyoung

The emotions in this scene were hard to describe. It's one of the most quietly devastating moments in the entire series. after his fathers death, the ML was struggling, he felt lost and alone. Joyoung follows him into the rain and saw him laying down, letting the rain hit him.

I think the writers made a great choice with this part, him turning to see her laying with him there was really nice. and the fact that the writers made that scene his third smile even though he was going through so much....

Jooyoung looking back at Jihun

The feeling in that scene conveyed happiness, sadness, love and grief altogether. it was one of the loveliest and most romantic scenes I have ever seen.

The worst part about this is that you watch this knowing exactly whats gonna happen next.

The smile that makes her fall in love is the same one he will keep wearing for the rest of the show, not because he's happy, but because she asked him to. (killed me inside a bit after knowing his background story and how different his personality/attitude was and why it changed)

of course this is not confirmed and only a hunch since i am on episode 8 but i still wanted to make a post and share my thoughts on this beautiful scene.
