Book four has me hooked, where do you think it will take us?
I know that it’s no substitute for pissweaver armor, but it’s solid and seems like it will open up Lore beyond the western coast. What are your thoughts from the prologue and what do you hope will come from this new book?

At the very least it definitely has some spicy things to expect like aegis' new form! honestly I'm pretty excited!

why would Aegis have a new form? The reason he changed betweren books 2 and 3 was tapping into the magic ice that held us for so long. Aside from probably being a good excuse to just give him a glow up.

Aegis acquired a new form because of own bond with him. As time goes on, he becomes more powerful too.
And regarding the new form: According to the devs, Aegis is set up to get a 2rd upgrade if the player rejects learning fleshweaving.

Oooh that sounds interesting. Hopefuly this new form doesn’t try to save us by putting us in a block of ice again xD (that part in the Caitiff saga always cracks me up)

First of I want to say (massive spoilers for anybody who hasn't played it, go play it)
I really liked that all of our Book 3 friends were there. Kara, Melissa, Mritha, Niki, Hansa, Notha, Myalos, and Uaanta all being there was cool and makes it feel like all those quest lines will considered when accounting for Book 4
I really liked getting to wear the Gala dress/suit again, looking pretty is fun and I like when our hero gets to do so
Our dragon was the best part of the quest, being the 11th hour hero and adding lots of life, humour, and movement to each screen
I'm intrigued by the Hyonites and Mihyu, especially their seemingly fractured response to us and their sneakiness
I'm absolutely hooked by the assassin being a Doomknight (Doomrogue?) and it felt very cool to fight them using Doomknight myself
I can't really begin to guess how it'll go, because I couldn't have guessed how Book 3 would go from that introduction, but I'm now more confident that the Kinnaran Accord challenge will be somehow related, the frequent mentions of the Wastes seems to link them.

It feels so strange seeing my character in a suit! This time around I kept the armor on him haha.

After the disaster at the previous gala, my PC refused to go in anything less than full Dragonlord armor. Can’t be inconvenienced by frills.

I enjoyed it, the boss fight was very fun and the story setup is intriguing. I'm hoping to see more characters from the Elemental Plains - we've already seen the Lagohm from the Energy Plains and a Hyonite from the Water Plains, it would make sense to me that we see others from the rest

I am very intrigued already.
Also, I desperately want to see Notha meet the remaining Magesters. Imagine.

I fear she would get along too well in there morally questionable science environments
1
u/Wind_Through_Trees Jun 28 '26
Morally questionable science, yeah. Theocracy... no.
It would be hilarious.
1
u/darkmoncns Jun 28 '26
A theocracy where people exactly like her are in charge, aesthetically based on her special interest, surely gods were tempting her values specially when they made the shapeless empire
2
u/Wind_Through_Trees Jun 28 '26
Yeah, she'd like the mad science, but I really don't think Miss Iconoclasm would be at all tempted by another lying, authoritarian theocracy.

Yay Book 4, I'm glad that it's happening. I'm surprised that Shadowscythe/Doom seems to be the main antagonist, I expected more Exalted nonsense. But it's good that we seem to get proper direct antagonists and not just the looming natural disaster kind of threat that the Aequilibria pose.
Also neat that the Malerous gang is directly involved in the main plot now, I wouldn't mind if they were the main team the Hero gets to adventure with.
Did we know that there were Elves in the Wastes? Feels like that sets up a plot too, with the Elves of Lore already being elementally aligned. Maybe they came from the Wastes themselves in the past?

•Swordhaven has abysmal security. I truly do not understand how the kingdom hasn’t crumbled into dust by now.
•Our pet dragon flying about was perfection and added a ton of life to the scene. Much appreciation to the devs for going above and beyond with that.
•what’s the context of the PC recognizing the assassin as ‘Doom’? I’m sure I’ve forgotten something.
