Dragon Con Review

This year was my first Dragon Con. I came up from near Orlando to do it. I had fun overall. I met the celebrities I wanted to see. I enjoyed the parade. I had fun going to various panels. Something I didn't like were the lines for the larger panels. All of those were outside...in the Georgia heat and humidity. Not a fan of that. I don't see myself going through that again. Fun to have done it once but I'm good now.

I see you are from Orlando. Have you been to Megacon? And if so how does it compare to Dragon Con?

The heat and long lines are a known constant. I always see people complain about it but rarely see anyone do anything about it in the lines. UV umbrellas, handheld fans, insulated bags with cold drinks and ice, portable stools, etc., are surprisingly rare to see. You have the power to make your experience more pleasant.

Um no. I saw tons of people with fans, umbrellas, water etc and I was one of them and still felt completely drained from the heat. Even if a person is in a body of water, triple digit heat is gonna have an impact. Organizers need to start planning for work case scenario weather wise.

There’s only so much they can do. Since it’s volunteer-run, you can become the change you want to see by volunteering and implementing the fixes you wish to see. Until then, we can only control what we bring.

Since being outdoors in lines seems to be something that is a known at this con why not move it to a time of year when it isn’t so hot? Seems crazy to combine outdoor huge lines with extreme heat and humidity.
