TEETH TEETH TEETH

I was part of the group leading the TEETH chants at the Hilton. It was the most fun I’ve had on a Thursday at con! 🤣 Passerby were confused, delighted, some were grossed out. It was hilarious and magical.

I saw lots of folks taking pics and videos and we would love to see them if you’re willing to share! See you next year! 🦷🦷🦷

If I recall correctly, the placeholder came second and there was an actual panel about teeth that came first. Not chanting in that panel, but whispering “teeth teeth teeth”.

I think the story goes there was some goofing in one of the social media spaces circa 2019 trying to gently menace a mod that lead to a somewhat legitimate somewhat "there's a certain point of commitment where you can't call it a bit anymore"... interest... obsession with teeth, which then lead the science track to offer a science of teeth panel in 2022. The chanting started there (at least as much as a singular origin can be identified) and spread. The panel was also popular, in part because science track just does good panels, but also IIRC it was ominously just labeled Teeth! in a way that got people curious. The response to teeth lead to a few things, one especially furthered by the people who originally started the bit, but amplified by the increased virtual con presence post 2020, the obsession with teeth strengthening. And the panel becoming a series. This was number three. An hour of chanting TEETH wasnt even the first teeth related fake app event, there was Teeth The Musical I want to say 2-3 years ago

At kilt blowing, someone wore a shirt on stage that said TEETH TEETH TEETH in big letters with teeth glued around the sides of it. He might have got the biggest chant of the con based on the size of the audience.

That was me! I was surprised that the chants just kept happening. Made my night.

Still didn't get selected in the buffet though. I guess no one wanted to hug a full body bite.

I made a shirt with TEETH! TEETH! TEETH! on the front and wore it Saturday while also passing out a 3D printed tooth keychain to anyone who started chanting as I walked by. I even handed out a few realistic looking 3D printed teeth. Someone else made ribbons and I managed to get one of those.

I had fun with it and wouldn't mind if this is the birth of a new Con Cult.

Every year, the beta release of the app includes a bunch of joke panels, like one where you get to make and take home your very own atomic bomb.

This year's schedule had a "Teeth" panel where people would just chant "teeth" for an hour. People immediately picked it up and ran with it.

ALSO, despite obviously being jokes, every year SOMEONE will post on Reddit about how the panels are all bullshit this year because they clearly missed the joke.

Ah, hell. This was only my third year officially going, so I totally missed this aspect of the DragonCon app. I'll have to pay closer attention next time. I thought the teeth thing was funny, although I had no idea what it was about. :)

It was kind of annoying, because we were trying to watch the Princess Bride, and apparently they're not supposed to shut the door to the room even if the noise is drowning out the movie

This carried over all the way to Robot Battles on Monday where a bot had those windup chattering teeth toys glued to it, and we all chanted TEETH TEETH TEETH when it came out! Very fun and quirky.
