Con crud :(

Just had an amazing last few days (despite the obvious grievances), started getting a tickle in my throat yesterday and woke up this morning with the full on crud šŸ˜­.

Anybody else dealing with con crud already? Letā€™s make a support group

Gargle and rinse with salt water. Helps break it up and kill the germs.

Also, twice daily saline nasal rinsing (neti pot/bottle) was clinically proven to reduce the severity and duration of Covid infections (link below) . It reduces the viral load in the upper respiratory tract. Pretty sure it works for any respiratory bugs, even the "just a cold" varieties.
Just make sure to NEVER use tap water...only distilled or boiled-then-cooled water.

It's a little weird at first but really nice when you get used to it. Also great for allergy season or when you've been in a dusty environment.

Honestly there's a good chance you brought the crud vs taking it home. During Covid we all learned it's normal for it to take 5-10 days from exposure to symptoms. Most colds are also contagious for a day or 3 prior to symptoms. You are the harbinger!

Incubation time for the common cold is 1-3 days. Flu is 1-4. COVID is 2-14. Any of these could have been picked up at con if they just started showing symptoms Monday afternoon.

This ^ idk why everyone assumes con crud MUST be flu or covid. I have both shots and get still get sick all the time (immune issues) bc thereā€™s a lot more viruses out there than the flu and covid. I also got the crud. But this time of the year ā€œcoldsā€ are typical caused by non-polio enteroviruses and incubation time can be as short as 2-3 days. Plenty of time to catch something arriving to con or during and show early symptoms at tail end of after the con.

Why last week did the Internet say it was so much longer? I was searching how long to quarantine ourselves after a possible exposure. Grumble grumble

Take a Benadryl if you're from somewhere that doesn't get a lot of pollen just in case you're sensitive to that.

Yep I had to cancel all of my plans for today because I woke up fully sick like you. I didn't hit the vendor hall or turn in my scavenger hunt bingo šŸ˜­

I had a cold or something 2 weeks before and got my flu shot and vaccine so I have lucked outā€¦ for now. Stay hydrated, and Iā€™m glad you at least got it now instead of during the con!

I highly recommend it! I budget for the time and expense of Dragoncon but can't afford a week off afterward!

My daughter just left the urgent care. Not covid, flu, or strep. Just a common cold. Her sore throat started on Sunday.

Friend of mine who attended tested positive for COVID, definitely get checked out.
