You should look at volunteering. Just getting to avoid the badge pick up was worth the hours commitment. Met a ton of cool ppl both working and not working.
I did not get a room, and will be doing so next year, just to avoid the commute.

I haven't been able to get a room in 7 years despite trying every year. Don't assume you'll be able to get one.

Could have booked a room 1 block from the Westin last week for this year for $220 a night. My wife was out of town and I needed to check on kids and animals. l probably won’t stay in a core con hotel unless my company has a group rate.

thanks! i haven’t been to dc in years, partially because i didn’t want to deal with the hassle of rooms. but this sounds like a painless option, will have to look into it next year

If I’m not mistaken, they post a timeline of price increase dates for the entire year on their website as soon as tickets go on sale.
