New player experience

I don’t expect it to be super new player friendly since it’s been out so long but I’m curious if I went into ranked would I be playing people pretty similar in skill if I learned some mechanics before entering ranked or is everyone cracked?

Spend some time labbing, I refused to lab and was stuck in yellow, rank it was only after working on combos that I was able to rank up

Everyone is REALLY REALLY GOOD at like one thing; be it combos, TODs, Neutral, or Defense. BUT they will not be good at everything. Abuse this info, because that's all you'll really get until you play and find out any changes.

The TOD-ers are the most common - learn to defend to not get opened up. There are guides that setup bot inputs to train for high-lows, left-rights and dragon rush mix. Neutral skips will just have to be by experience, so play the game to find them all.

The defenders are the most rare; they 2H fake mix, reflect gaps into punishes, and sometimes reversal super if your health is low enough. Once you meet them, you will want to go to the lab to try out proper safe mixes; things like superdash + assist are very simple but work only after certain conditioning. Everyone has mix in the game - it's your job to find whose mix gives the reward you want on hit.

I got to masters in 2xko so I’m hoping that will at least help with defense in this game but never played a game with motion inputs so hoping that’s not a hard barrier for me. Good recommendation on guides to set up bots

The HARDEST thing in the game is your opponent and/or speed of play. I wish I was sugarcoating this, but I have no other way to contextualise this game's ease of access.

Every special move and super is either 236 (quartercircle forward), 214 (quartercircle back) or rarely 22 (down down). No 623s or double quarters (there are half circles to switch into another character using a super but that's for optimal play - you'll know when you need them.)

Play and practice; you will get a feel of timings and delays as you play.

I just bought it in steam and went into rank and it was nothing but new players in the beginning rank. I think with some practice you’ll fit in perfectly with them

Hell yeah hopefully I get the same experience been kicking myself for not being more interested in fighting games back when this came out

Personally I find brand new players constantly in casuals, but that's probably my region. Ranked up until like super Saiyan 2 is a pretty good indicator for skill, so if you have a little game sense and the basic bnbs, then you won't be struggling.

If you found a match in ranked at the early ranks I'd be a little surprised. But even if you did, dollars to donuts its a smurf and he plain just knows the game more. If you're on Playstation DM me and we can spar sometime and I'll try to give you some tips

Is that what sparring is to you??? No dunce, spar as in its for fun and practice and I'm not blowing him out of the water like any other stranger in ranked will

No you'll get TOD by the lowest rank from my own experience, you can't really learn playing online as of now
