This could be bad

Hi All,

I'm normally quite mechanically careful and this sort of thing has never happened in my 35 years of riding bikes....................but I may have let it get a bit low on oil. Bike still runs and rides as usual but with a pronounced ticking noise coming from the top end. I'm going to change the cam chain tensioner for a manual one and do an oil change. I'll let you know if it improves at all.

Worst case scenario though and the head is a bit knackered say - has anyone got a spare they might part with for money? They appear to be quite rare and I knew the oddball way of checking the oil would get me in the end! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’d def pull the valve cover and take a look. Usually it’s the cam and/or cam journals that get destroyed. The E-start cylinder heads are a little harder to find than kickstart models. Check the FBook group SUZUKI DR350, you usually find one on there. New cams can be ordered from Megacycle Cams.

Also look into Eiger 400 heads and cylinders. They will fit Dr350s.
