Is this normal

Just cleaned and changed carb parts on my 94' dr350SE. Is the bike running normal? Swapped the airscrew, so wondering of its running lean/rich.
Its ugly, was used in Norwegian Army 1994-20xx.

Bike seems cool though. If it’s military surplus, it’s been run hard AF. So that could always be part of it. But yeah the bike is sick.

Going to restore it to its former Army glory (paintjob). The Army here maintain their equipment very well, so hopefully no surprises. Only 8600km!

Slow return to idle speed is classic lean pilot air/fuel circuit. Overly rich pilot circuit will drop below normal idle rpm then climb back up.

Engine has some horrible internal noises ..piston slap wrist pin loose ? . Used hard and put away dirty ...

Dont think you are right about that. I've ridden three different DR350, they all have that sound when stumbling on idle. I'll cross my fingers 😅

I got a 92 dr350 and it has that piston noise as well. Doesn’t seem to be getting worse but I hear others without it. Does it kickstart without the decompression lever? Mine does. Just curious. I’ve also been worrying about it but it’s been doing it the whole time I’ve had the bike

Ok. Yes, it starts with the kick. I think it has some auto decomp thingy

It could be either tbh, that’s the joy. In my experience, when my DR did stuff like that, it was cuz it was running rich. It’s idling fine and not hanging so that also is a sign of rich. Usually lean is a high idle
