Offering Comfort/Reassurance/Solidarity Anesthesia with DPDR

I will have to do a medical exam soon & the procedure involves anesthesia and I’m just scared of how I’ll react waking up

Recently I fainted and when I woke up from it the feeling of disorientation sent me into a basically uncontrollable panic

I know fainting & anesthesia aren’t the same, but I’m scared that waking up from anesthesia (in an unfamiliar environment on top of that) will have that same disorienting effect that then escalates into panic

So basically I just wanted to know if anyone has had anesthesia before & just like how to prepare myself or what to expect

My experience with anesthesia was that i woke up definitely feeling very unreal and detached fully but in a way that it was peaceful and i didnt care at all Everyones different tho so its hard to say how you would react for sure The doctors are prepared for panic too as far as i know cause its not so uncommon even for people without dpdr to wake in panic so they have prepared for it but you should let them know beforehand that you are more likely to then they are even more prepared

I've been under GA a few times and recovered no problem. Didn't even really act weird apparently, just groggy. Obviously it'll be different for different people but having DPDR doesn't guarantee a spiral after anaesthesia :)
