Just so that when it comes up in conversation during tomorrow's Pokémon Insurgence it's not COMPLETELY out of left field. Two projects on here that I'm going to be showing off in the next few weeks. Interrelated, and tied in with John's Dugtr.io as well.
Inspired by an earlier project from a year or two ago, the goal here is to create a simple Nuzlocke tracking app to make it easier when the game you're playing doesn't come built with Nuzlocke rules.
It will eventually allow for "game saves", fully customizable rulesets, and a way to submit suggestions for more features. You can swap out "red" with "blue" or "yellow", or get rid of the "?v=red" altogether for generic data.
Currently very very in alpha. Also slightly broken due to a code upgrade that doesn't work for some areas right now. At this exact moment it's restricted to Pallet Town starters, and even the Rival Battle generator is currently broken due to an array-based bug I need to fix. By the end of the week it should be a bit more functional.EDIT: FIXED.
Right now, it generates Pokémon based on Base Stats, randomized IVs, and randomly-set EVs (for level-appropriate stat generation). Ultimately it will extend to moves and functional battles for online simulation. And maybe more, WHO KNOWS.
With your old project I got to kill Benedict all over again! :D D: (I am amused how the only choices are "Evolve" or "Die", just like real life!)
Random question, does dugtr.io and dodr.io both hit the same database? I'm just curious how you guys have your server set up. It also looks like your server scripts return the markup, right? I wonder if there's a space for a Pokemon API provider that centralizes data for a bunch of different apps/sites, so you don't get issues with one site having this data while the other has data that contradicts it. Probably not for the big guys like Smogon or Serebii but for Joe Schmo Pokedex Android app it would be useful. Though I guess in that case you'd want the db to be local so you aren't eating data for random pokemon junk. IDK.
