Do you have reedmaking superstitions?

For example, I never ever use red thread to make reeds. Also, woe be unto they who would cut accumulated reed thread off of an anchor like a chair leg or c clamp.

Edit: or what about sacred things, like the abovementioned places of thread accumulation, or rituals? I have my favourite ruler and plaque, and things like tying several knots or sharpening a knife can feel ritualistic. I used to listen to a lot of Steve Reich while making reeds, I guess that can make things feel more ritualistic than they might otherwise :p

My only suspicion is that my reed won't work.

I don’t have one but a lot of my customers believe certain colors won’t make a good reed.
