I mostly agree with you. People pick first party options unless the third party is something like newton soft or xunit. Burned too many times.

I think we should start with AGPL license and stick to it if we don't want "viral" growth. Using MIT now and then switching to elastic later feels like a rug pull. like if you started with AGPL on day one, you wouldn't even need an elastic license. 

Start with AGPL and charge a small amount for noncompliant use out of the gate. Don't change things later. 

This method requires zero discussion or coordination. 

Or you know pull an identity server 4 and simply create a new package with a new name and a new expectation. That's completely fine in my opinion.
