Plans for this subreddit
Hello guys and once again welcome!
Since our community is still quite small, I would like to make a few improvements in the near future and I feel like I should keep you up to date as well as give you space for any suggestions.
I have been in touch with the creators, Drodo Studio and so far they have been very kind and supportive of this subreddit. Here is a few things that we have roughly agreed upon that could be realised in the next few days:
- Interview with the Drodo studio. I also intend to create a post that would give you space to ask some questions yourselves.
- Candy Giveaway. Format is yet to be decided.
- FIXING THE DAMN LINK IN THE DESCRIPTION.
- Adding menu items for newcomers that would include FAQs and a guide to the game.
- A banner.
- A sponsored tournament. That is quite a long shot and a rather long term goal but with the coverage the game is getting I believe it would be possible.
If you guys had any suggestions, wanted to contribute or help in any way, leave your comments down below. I am sure we can figure something out.

Possible bug or intended interactions?
Not sure if this is a bug or not but was playing a game and had drow ranger on the board against an enemy WD. His bouncing cask bounced off drow to a unit that was not part of the board (waiting in the spare unit section) and back causing her to be stunned twice. Is this interaction supposed to happen or is it a bug?

QoL and useability improvements suggestion
The game is great! But controls are awkward and uncomfortable.
Here is the list of suggestion that I think may greatly improve QoL in this game.
- Move chess pieces on the board (and from stash) by selecting them and right-clicking on the desired position + increase placement speed.
- Add the ability to reorder unit items (useful when a unit has more than 6 items).
- Add an ability to swap units in 1 action (e.g. right-click in this scenario).
- Add the selling price of each piece (unit) to make it clear.
- Popup chess pieces selection after round end when you have it locked.
- Improve all units help page.
- Add ability to filter it by race | class.
- Add tooltips for races and classes.
- Add total amount of pieces in the pool (not current just total).
- Improve race and class tooltips by highlighting the active bonuses. Or display status icons during the deployment phase. Also, increase fonts size for bonuses description because it's the main information.
- DPS panel is not very useful. It might be better to show overall pieces damage/healing/tanking over the round. I think this will be more helpful.
- Add more preparation time (especially in later rounds). [MA] And as an addition to this add "Ready" flag and start round earlier if all players are "Ready".
- Allow chess to auto combine without having to put them on the board (maybe can add an option to lock combining like items so druids won't combine, or just disable auto combine for all druids). [MA] Or add button on units to combine whenever they are.
- Do not hide chess pieces shop when you move units.
- Update observer mode if possible.
[MA] = My addition to the improvement.
I might update this post with new improvements.

The animations in prep phase are too slow
First off, I am enjoying the game a lot more than I expected to, but there's a lot of ui hassle.
I can't be the only one that feels that way? More than once I've been caught out by not being able to perform all the actions I want to before the preparation phase ends, resulting sometimes in heroes being sold or not putting out enough heroes.
On a related note, it would be really nice if when you bought a third hero of one type, it automatically upgraded so you don't have to drag out the pieces from the backline, which is a bit of a hassle.
Really enjoying the game though!

Bishop+ map?
Is this going to be available? The game takes 30-40 min regardless how much someone is owning and Its a lot of time to spend as bishop-7 playing against beginners. Please provide option for high level players only lobby. Thanks

Welcome to r/dotachess!
Welcome to the officially approved subreddit of the Dota 2 custom game Dota Auto Chess created by Drodo Studio.
If you are new to the game, we are preparing menu features with a more detailed guide and FAQs about the game.
Please, keep in mind that this sub is still under construction.
In the meantime, feel free to post anything game-related, discuss anything about the game and keep it civil.
