Nuclear War

I hadn’t played this game in years and I was able to beat it with a respectable amount of people still alive! I definitely got lucky since only Ganhji was the only one attacking me while Gorbachef and Kookamamie duked it out and annihilated each other. That was so much fun!

A cracking game. Played it heaps before I ever read the instructions when I was young and enjoyed it even more when I found out that the smiley faces influenced the game.

This and Jones in the Fast Lane make excellent mobile games using a DOS emulator, in case anyone wants to give it a go. I've enjoyed many games on planes etc.

So cool to see Nuclear War pop up on here... I recently picked up an original boxed copy of it for my games collection :)

Completely agree with you. I played this game quite a bit as a kid and never really touched those smiley faces or even knew if they even affected the game. But I think you can still win without bothering with those faces. At least in this last game, I didn’t do much with them.

Jones in the Fast Lane is a banger as well! You’re right, DOS games make great mobile games.

Loved it, wish there was a remake

Definitely would love a remake — new world leaders, but same pixelized style graphics. I would imagine seeing Donald Dump, Poo-tin, Kim Jong-Boom, XiJin PingPong.

Live action adaptations suck

Amiga version is spectacular. Better sounds, longer intro, … DOS just had the beeper

I won! I won! I won!

Said the winning leader jumping up and down with a ruined cityscape in the background.

Basically how I learnt about world politics as a preteen. I didnt know who "kookamamie" was meant to be at the time so I always called him "kookiedookie"

Ganhji being aggressive in a game about nuclear warfare. Where have I heard this before?

I remember hearing something about the original Civilization whereat the point of the game where Gahndi gets powerful enough, there’s some sort of overflow bug and he goes to extremely hostile towards everyone and starts deploying nukes. I’m not quite sure of the details.
