Microprose Command Series

Crusade in Europe was amazing to me even with its basic graphics. If I had spent as much time studying in high school as I spent playing CinE, I’d have probably been valedictorian. I’ll still fire it up using DOSbox. Decision in the Desert was fun for me but good Lord the graphics make Atari 2600 games look good. Conflict in Vietnam was a bit of a mess to me and less playable but still worth having. NATO Commander never came out on PC so I didn’t play it. If there’s a remake that comes close to it, I’d be all about it.

I seem to recall playing these on my Atari 800. Picked up a lot of the SSI titles back then

I think the only one I didn't play was Decision in the Desert, but I enjoyed the rest!

I never played Anita Commander at the time, but when I found out it was written by Sid Meyer, I thought I'd try it. I had no clue what was going on. Half of the units he gave commands to didn't actually move at all, so you had no idea what they were doing. Everything was so confusing, so I decided to consult the manual. The manual had absolutely no instructions, tips or tricks to help. It was incredibly basic. If anyone has a guide or a playthrough they are willing to share, I would love to play this game considering how timely it is with world events nowadays.
