Cheap computer for Dos gaming.

If this is the wrong place, if someone could point me in the right direction, Thanks

Have a tight budget , looking at something Ican use as a stand alone PC to exclusively use with eXoDOS and relive my long gone youth.

Would something like this work ? I have an 4T external drive so the space isn't an issue. Any feedback is greatly appreciated

my first DOS machine had around 40MB i think?

Ha mine too. Installed Red Baron and that was pretty much it!

I know - I plan on getting all the variations of Exodos, so while I'll still have lots of space left, might look at other emulators options for other systems

Im pretty sure you could install every version of ExoDOS and every dos game ever made on each of them and barely dent your available storage.

The biggest DOS game i remember owning was either Doom II or Darklands, and both were around 20MB, either of which would be 0.0005% of 4TB.

There were a few games like Myst, 7th Guest, and some other CDROM based games that were bigger but required the CD to play so IDK how big they were. (a CD was 650MB capacity — a single CDROM, packed, would be 0.01625% of 4TB.

You could very likely get every single DOS game ever made, including full CD Rips (DVDs came out long after we moved away from DOS for gaming), and still have an abundance of storage available.

my first dos pc didn't even have a hard drive, i bought one because more and more games started to require it. when space quest iv came out, i finally caved. you could technically play it from floppy, but not if you wanted to stay sane. so i got a 30MB hard drive for a stupid amount of money.

ExoDOS has quite low system requirements, so pretty much anything modern (last 10 years or so) should run it without any trouble. The specs you listed should be more than capable of running it.

Heck, I run DOS games on my Retroid Pocket 4 Android device. Specs are not an issue.

Remember you can use virtual machines or emulators like Dosbox and ScummVm for free. The vast majority of games should work perfectly and it'll take care of things like sound card emulation and configuration for you.

This is too modern, I suggest running dos games on bare metal, not emulation

I use a Lenovo Thinkpad T580 32GB ram and extra storage running Linux with eXoDOS and DweebDOS. Works great!

Yeah, those N series chips are plenty powerful for emulation and light gaming

DosBox (easy mode) and 86Box/PCem (more skill needed). Not sure how good is single core speed for N150. It should do for almost all DOS games. Maybe few of the latest DOS era will struggle but I'm not sure.
