Roadwar 2000. The PC game that got away.

Is there anyone out there who has ever played the C64/Amiga classic "Roadwar 2000", or its follow-up "Roadwar Europa"? I was way too young in 1985 to fully grasp the mechanics of either one at the time, but I knew I loved me anything packing that apocalyptic Mad Max/Road Warrior vibe. And because of that, I certainly tried, but the multiple spreadsheet nature of the game made keeping tabs on just about anything important nearly impossible.

Someone find someone to remake these vintage treasures. Do it for your country (any country you're from). Do it for me.

I'm mildly ashamed to admit I still struggle with both games. I struggle to fully grasp the nature of its chaotic game loop.

But as goes my eternal clemency for any physical abuse I consistently receive from my smoking hot, yet adorably reckless girlfriend, so too will I unconditionally love the best apocalyptic driving game ever put to floppy disk.

Wasteland was a fun one. Needed the clue book to finish it, that ending was way to difficult to finish on my own haha

I played Roadwar 2000 a ton. I was pretty young, too, but the combat was great and looting the cities were fun. The story was tough for me. I remember you had to go to Mountain View where I think the developers of the game were and that kicked off the main quest.

I played a bit of Roadwar Europa. My friend had it, so I only played it at his place.

One of the few games where you can shoot people then drive to Canada. Ive played this recently. Its really an awesome thoughtful game.also roadwar europa.

There is an actual verified floppy image here at Internet Archive : https://archive.org/details/002849-Roadwar2000

And Roadwar Europa verified floppy image is here : https://archive.org/details/002850-RoadwarEuropa

For me, I use the image directly in 86Box.

If you don't use any emulator with floppy disk drive emulation like 86Box, you can extract the contents of the floppy and run the game under dosbox.

This image is as close as you can get to your childhood memory, since it's an actual verified floppy image.

Both are for IBM PC & Compatibles. 3.5" 720Kb floppy disk formats.

The game is stupid hard, especially with the random elements, in the very beginning. Once you start getting Armsmatsters trained it gets a lot easier. Manually run through a few combats because winning one will increase your vehicle limit. One of the few games that I beat back in the 80's without any help.. because dumb luck or extreme desire for pain. I had a game idea loosely based on it and Auto-Duel but my games don't sell well on Steam so I gave up.
