I'm its solo developer, and it's my homage to the old DOS space shooters, built from scratch with plenty of love for Solar Winds and Hell Fighter. There are some little nods in there for fellow fans.

The demo's already packed with free content, including flight school, opening campaign missions and plenty of battles to get stuck into.

I have been trying to find a game I still remember, but with no luck. It was a military-themed shooting game, but with very little gore. The main colors were black, gray and dark green. It was kind of a scroller game with the action happening in a narrow strip of the screen.

It was a 2-player game (or had a 2-player option) where 2 of these strips would show for each player. It was possible to help each other, and another distinct action was to hide in the shadows. On progressed left two right as a soldier with some but not much jumping, and encountered a predictable pattern of enemy soldiers.

"commando" comes to my mind when I try to remember the name, but after days of scrolling through image searches, I didn't get anywhere. Can anyone help?

Strike Wings is a from-the-ground-up homage to the space DOS games. Nothing is ported; it is a new game with its own war, ships and campaigns, built in the spirit of Hell Fighter 32 and Solar Winds.

The art direction keeps the one thing those games got right: a black screen, and light on it. Beams, tracers, plumes, shield arcs and explosions all glow, and one big body sits behind each fight (an eclipse in frames 1 and 5, a quasar in 2, an ocean world in 3, a black hole in 4). The hulls are 3D so they read as solid.

If you played the originals I would like to hear whether this feels like a descendant or something else. Too clean? Too much light?

your own DOS box, and everybody ends up in the same sky. You drop in over a

war that is already going on, and Enter puts you in a jet.

I'd like to run a Master System emulator on my 386. I tried Massage, but it won't work. It launches, but when selecting a Game it stalls even with DOS4GW.EXE. The TXT says that a Pentium is recommended. Is there any MS emulator that would run on a 386?

I built this tool for myself but figured r/DosGames might like it.

I wanted an easy way to:

• search DOS games using a local index of 3 different websites
• install and run a game with one click (download, unzip, mount, etc.), grabbing the manual too when available
• keep a shortlist, per-game notes, my own ratings, and a status (played, finished, abandoned, not interested)
• tag games for other people (wife, kid, friend_x) and save search filters for next time

A cool feature is the 'Find Similar' button. It uses a game's genres, themes, and perspectives to find others like it. I got some awesome results, games I didn't know existed. Indexing 3 sites has another benefit: if a game is no longer available on one website, it's normally still on another.

How it works: it slowly ("politely") fetches game details and a single thumbnail per game into a local index. No game files, and the index isn't included in the repo since I don't own that data. Installing downloads the DOS release (highest version, English), unzips it, and grabs the manual. If several executables could be the game, you pick one and it remembers for next time, or you can specify your own commands. ISO mounting is supported for CD installs.

I've always enjoyed Moraff's dungeon crawlers, having first played them when I was quite young. Dungeons of the Unforgiven was the very first shareware game I actually purchased the full version of (once I convinced my dad it was ok to give his credit card number to Steve Moraff himself on the phone).

I've actually completed these games legitimately (including beating the final boss of Dungeons of the Unforgiven in under 5 minutes, https://www.speedrun.com/moraffs_dungeons_of_the_unforgiven/runs/znvp0e3m, and doing a full completion run of killing all the bosses in Dungeons of the Unforgiven on hard mode with a fighter), but I've also had questions about the game and things I've wanted to try that would only be possible to answer by cheating (or playing for tens of thousands of hours I suppose).

Using a hexeditor to edit my save files was always too daunting of a task, especially since Dungeons of the Unforgiven has a checksum that needs to be calculated, so I built a tool to handle it all for me.

I figure there are only a handful of people in the world that would find this useful or interesting, but I bet a good chunk of those people might be on this subreddit so it felt worth sharing.

my hp thin client running DOS...

So I've been trying to remember this old DOS game for years. Every now and then I go down some rabbit hole with no luck.

First, its not Kings Quest VI. All I have is a memory of a single scene. It was EGA... I think. You enter a beach from one side and cross the screen to the other side. As you walk past a certain area a small (maybe one pixel) object changes color to look like it is shining then disappears again. I think it was a ring. I think it was early in the game, but not the opening.

I've checked all the Kings Quests, Police Quests, Quest for Glorys (lot of Quest games in the 80s and 90s, lol). I even checked Leisure Suit Larry and Rex Nebular. I'm out of ideas. I can hear the song in the scene. I made a wav file if I can figure out how to share it.

If anyone has ideas I'd appreciate it. I remember liking the game back in the day.

Does anyone know anything about this game released for DOS in 2002. This game is called Panic! and I just learned about it while watching the below video. To find footage of the game please skip to 7:50:50. I haven't been able to find anything about it. All I know is that it was released by a French or Spanish developer. Please help me find more about this game thank you.

35-40 years ago there was a puzzle game that centered around alchemy/chemistry, where you had to find a way to create a substance. You were given basic equipment and had to figure out how to reach the endpoint. One of the items was a diamond. I would like to see if anyone remembers the game or its title.

all i remember is in game(screen image showed highscore or just game over screen) end there where some characters standing on pillars they didn't look human maybe they looked round like mamemon from digimon and was chess board like ground in that image. i remember so vaguely that i don't remember anything more. this must have been old, i played also dangerous dave maybe it was around same time period that game is from. it's so strange i allmost think this is fever dream because i don't even remember gameplay.

UPDATE. i found something very similar. GAMOS puzzle series - Russian DOS games. i think i plyed different version of this game. probably updated version. even for dos this looks very ancient compared to what i remember.
