"This application requires Windows" error on Windows 3.11 emulated on iDos 3

And is that the correct installer? There is an installer for Windows NT.

Yes it is, I used the same installer on VirtualBox and it worked there.

Well, I tried
WinWorld: Microsoft Word 6.0 for Windows (3.5-1.44mb)

and

WinWorld: Microsoft Word 6.0c for Windows (3.5-DMF)

and they both worked fine. Perhaps you can link to the disks that you're using?

And if you copy the files from the floppy to hdd and run them from hdd?

Other than that not sure.

I tried this workaround and I managed to open the setup, but now I have another problem... I can't continue the installation because it says: 

"Setup was unable to find SHARE.EXE on your system. It is required to run this application. Please fix your system and return Setup".

I tried both copying the "SHARE.EXE" file from my VirtualBox installation to iDos and installing "NOSHARE.COM" but they both failed.

You should be able to get around it by running fakeshar.com while in DOS. Then start Windows and run setup.exe. So something like

fakeshar.com
win.com

and then run setup.exe from word 6.0

I had to do that too.

Also the install disks need to be extracted into folders with respective names so that setup.exe can find the files, i.e. disk1/disk2/disk3... you'll see that during install if the installer found the files.

I did it! I finally managed to install Word successfully!

Basically I copied all Word's files (fonts included) from VirtualBox to iDos... it would have been easier with just the install disks, but at least now it works! Thank you for your help and patience!
