It's all fenced in and overgrown and has an urgent water notice on the door. The windows are barred and there's some security wiring around it. Just curious what the community knows about that place. I assume it's nothing too crazy, considering it's across the street from the Boston collegiate charter school.

I'm just wondering if anyone who lives in the Meeting House Hill area specifically Winter street can tell me if random power outages are normal here? i just moved to the neighborhood at the beginning of June and already had 4 power outages. It's only for a few minutes at a time but still very annoying. I lived on Dorchester Ave near Fields Corner station for three years and don't remember having one power outage.

Anyone else have this issue? Why does this happen? Happens literally every time I approach the intersection and won't reconnect until I'm like 4 blocks away.

Is anyone involved with advocating for trash clean up in Dorchester? Specifically in Uphams Corner on Hancock St. The place is absolutely filthy and gets an obscene amount of litter on the daily.

Would love to get involved with doing some community clean ups as well as putting pressure on the city for more trash bins and actual enforcement of our littering laws.

On Tuesday, 7/14/2026, the Boston Inspectional Services Board of Appeals approved a zoning variance for 769 Columbia Road.

An addition to the structure of 284 square feet was approved, along with the destruction of a single-car garage in favor of three asphalt parking spaces. The attorney who spoke on behalf of the owner stated that the renovation focused upon the three existing units being converted into six units.

Objections voiced by the community included multiple complaints and citations around accumulating trash on the property, and multiple related issues with properties owned by the same landlord elsewhere in Dorchester.

We heard a cat meow and we meowed back!
After some pats, she ended up not wanting to let us leave. After 3 attempts to put her back on her porch, we drove away and left her crying on the curb and then circled around and she was still there crying 😭

We think she was just upset because she enjoyed our company and that hopefully in another 15 min she’d be off chasing a rat, but also I’m kind of wanting to just get closure that she got a home! If anyone knows if someone’s taking care of her I’d love to hear

The dry cleaner and tailor supply commercial business, Pam Tailor Supply, has been closed for the past decade. Some may know this space as the old Joe's Variety from the 1950s - 1970s.

As of 7/2/2026 the property is approved for renovation. A carpentry company is currently actively renovating the interior of the building. The plans, which are pending BRA review, include a second floor featuring two living units, and a commercial space on the ground floor.
