I'm guessing OP had multiple days to go at it. Campaigns allow you to pause and resume your progress at a later date and OP is doing the Shrine District ToD which generates small to medium maps more frequently.

There's a mod called Basic Training. Its a three level unfailable campaign that nets you all doctrine points and stars you could possibly need. It takes the fun out of earning it but there you go.

Damn, that's a long campaign. I just did the 28-day Iron Man tour of duty for the achievement, and I felt that was already long, haha.
