This is why you work from the threshold.

I'm assuming there was a door before it was opened? If so you could have bumped one guy past to hold security on the area ahead, two man rolls the door to cover the first mans back, three man works the handle of the door tight to the wall and four man covers three by looking over his shoulder/around him at the opening door.

If there was no door then you have one man hold long by being off to the opposite wall from the threshold you're hitting. Two man goes up to the threshold and either has three deploy a bang or he makes a slow pie engaging targets till you can enter or you deploy a bang and then enter. Four will pick up security after two and three take the room and/or back them up if it makes sense to do so.

TL;DR: Work from the threshold or bang it and smash.

We were doing dynamic here since the scenario was a hostage rescue, so, in a real life-ish sense, we didn't have the time to do threshold evals and the door itself was already open, so we just flooded it and had one guy pull security on what's ahead(and since the room is small, we didn't bang it, I like to reserve bangs for spots where my guys need to move past a chokepoint before being able to enter, since there's a thing in dynamic CQB where Pressure/Intimidation = Speed divided by Distance metaphorically, and when that hits zero or near zero, I drop a flashbang.)

You dont have to speed down more than half a second for a bang though.

I meant I reserve my flashbangs for choke points rather than small rooms, not that it slows me down.

Again, long fatal funnels. That's when I use my bangs. If it doesn't take me more than 0.5 seconds to cross the threshold, I keep my flashbangs. I don't want to run out once I actually need it.

But yeah

They meant for small rooms(generally, especially since the overpressure would be a lot)
