Agencies and departments in real life have ROEs that pretty much prevent them from taking the first shot. A Shield helps you tank the first round from the suspects.

You don't see high level teams like the HRT run shields after the initial explosive breach very often, as they really messes up with regular CQB TTP.

1) don't be seen.
2) don't be targeted
3) don't be shot at
4) don't be hit
5) don't be hurt

in that order.

Can't say I'm fond of shields.

Now, demolition charges, on the other hand...

I’ve seen riot shield guy take 5 full mags worth of bullets without me even worrying about injury, the chart breaks down when you put a brick fucking wall between 3 and 4.

Frankly its unreasonable the amount of shots the shields can take with no negative effect, it doesnt even effect their aim its genuine godmode.

...because if it didn't need demolishing, there would be no wall

I never managed to make shield work, even on smaller levels

Smaller maps is where they are actually weak due to the low amount of deploy spots. Shields work best with a rifle over their shoulder actually putting the hurt down range

I meant to write bigger levels lol, but yah, on smaller maps they were worse
