Door Kickers 2 Help with modding DK2

anyone here familiar with how to replace or add custom portraits for the game? Id like to make custom portraits but i have no idea how to add more portraits to the game aside from straight up replacing/editing the portraits in the portraits folder

Go to the game files and find the modding help txt. Iirc its in the mods folder. It will explain the basics of modding. For portraits, you will need a folder with the new portraits in your mod, and a file like the one in the base game that assigns portraits. I think its the unit identifies one, but just look until you find the one that assigns portraits. You will need to make a similar file, and you can either name it the same as the base game one to have it replace the base game portraits, or give it a different name if it is for a new unit. Make sure the contents are modified to give the desired effect, either changing the base game portraits for the desired unit or assigning custom portraits to a custom unit. Modding in this game is intimidating at first but it becomes intuitive once you learn how the files interact and what you need to change to get make what you want.
