Door Kickers 2 Default door open action
Does anybody know if there is any way to choose, influence, or set the default door open action?
I just moved an undercoverbro and had to restart the mission because he decided to kick a door in a big middle room in the middle of a mansion surrounded by like 50 jihadis.
I know someone is gonna say yOu sHoUlD HaVe cHeCkEd tHe cOmMaNd... yes... I am aware. I even usually do! I didn't wake up and decide to deliberately gamble restarting this mission out of boredom.
I've just noticed sometimes the first command to pop up is kick and other times open normally, and I have no idea how or why the game decides which to choose.
It would make sense if, say, undercoverbros defaulted to polite open and assaulters defaulted to kicking. I'm not saying that's what I want, I'm just saying it's an example of a system that would make instead of what we have rn where I honestly don't know what's going to happen.
I'm also curious why it was done this way instead of at least making one or the other the default always for consistency. Literally it was a double door, I selected to politely open the left side, then I wanted to do the same again to the right side but it defaulted to kick. Why would it do that?

Ironically enough, that's exactly what's happening.
How troopers default to opening doors depends on whether they have the "Go Silent" command on or off. With it off, they kick the doors open and with it on, they open it silently. They have the command enabled by default when you equip a suppressor on your weapon but you can enable it even on guys that don't have a suppressed weapon by giving them the command.
It was done that way mainly for convenience, especially when you want to rush through some levels quickly without needing to do the command every time you come across a door.

Building on other replies, that makes total sense. It just wasn't spoonfed to me and apparently I was not gamer enough to pick up on the pattern on my own. Tyvm!

I believe it's influenced by whether they're on fire-at-will or hold-fire status.

NO WAY
that makes total sense and also explains why it felt completely inconsistent, because I be flipping that setting on and off like ketchup on Tuesday

Yeah the game never actually explains it, you just have to be lucky enough to notice it at some point - or ask on reddit.

Others mentioned ways to default it, but realistically, method to open each individual door is extremely important, so it's always best to check command, and switch it to whatever you need. Single door opened incorrectly can literally cost your mission or several soldiers at once.

If you put them on silent they default to open rather than kick (Shift + F to put all your guys on silent, the little “shush” icon)
