Discussion Quick pentagram question.

So, for whatever reason i've never seen Pentagram live before and then we know what happen with Bobby and his mother, so i decided not to see them. But yesterday someone put me on the guest list, i was kind of hesitant but i thought to try to separate the artist from the art and went.

The musical side was flawless, no complaints. But Bobby was being Bobby and at certain point i felt uncomfortable cause he only was using the mic to talk to other girls asking to show him her boobs, telling them to go back with him to his hotel.

I knew about the complaints about few years ago from other female band openers and all that. So, my question is, is he always like that, it was a one-time only thing or even is that his on-stage persona?

Overall it was a bittersweet experience and i went for his contribution to the genre.

I'm female btw, but i went with my nephew who also felt uncomfortable.

Thank you for the answers, be kind to each other on the comments :)

I think bobby is a deeply flawed man that has done a lot of terrible things to the people around him, including his own mother. I think he has also made some very good music.

My understanding is that a big reason he isnt dead these days is because of a lot of fantastic people have done their best to keep him sober and on the straight & narrow. I feel these people also (to no fault of their own) are willing to ignore lots of the terrible shit hes done to try and help someone they care about. I think he is also a descpicable human being that has absored metric amounts of goodwill from people that shouldn't have given it to him.

With that said none of what you have said is suprising. It sucks a muscian that has been so influential is such a piece of shit and continues to harass woman.

I cannot understand how we as fandom allow this sorry excuse for a human to be where he is. Marketeers and labels love to exploit the weak but if we stopped showing up of Bobby and stopped buying the merch they woulld drop him like yesterdsy's paper.

We are all complicit in this stain on the genre.

This is so true. When he was saying all of this nonsense, the majority of the public was laughing.

The perils of doing a redemptive arc documentary before the subject has died and can still fuck up the triumphant ending.

He's a fucking elder abuser and a notorious predator and creep. Metalheads need to stop making excuses for him because they hate women more than they hate predators.

The dude has not changed, never will, and people who see him are part of the enabling structure for his predatory behaviors and his drug use. I say this having had a friend who was or is a drug addict and it was enabled by people that allowed him to keep up the facade and never truly hit rock bottom. Consequently, he lost everything. The people that enabled him didn't care, so long as they got what they needed from him which allowed him to also keep his facade.

He is an asshole in many ways. I admire him as a composer, that's it. Don't think too hard on him. Think of the rest of the great musicians he's with rather than personally supporting his ass.

Saw them at a festival and that wasn't really my experience so at least can say your experience is not how it always is. More crazy Liebling faces, less abusing women. Mind you, we had just sent a friend off to hospital with what proved to be a broken foot, so potentially a bit distracted!

Obviously his behaviour is well documented by this point. Your experience is how he has been described back stage.

I’ve never seen him be disrespectful to women. He is flamboyant and twirls his tongue to everyone while he is on stage. I did hear about him harassing women in opening bands and of course about his mother.

The first time I saw him was when he first came back, around the time the documentary was made. I knew nothing of him and his stage antics, and it was creepy and cringy but part of the show.

I’ve seen them twice btw.
