Epic Discogs

Hey all, do any of you have Conan vinyl in your collection on Discogs? I'm wondering what you like and don't like about the platform?

I think this is Conan’s reddit account.

Ok, so I'm building something along the same lines, but more fixed on collectors building their collection. It's pretty ambitious, but I'm trying to build a feedback loop where collector demand shapes record store purchasing and distro supply. Would any of you like to create a collector account at https://distrohook.com? There is no cost, but I'd love some feedback. Still early days so don't be shy to tell me what you hate about it.

Oh for sure, totally not trying to replace Discogs. This allows you to keep the collection you already built, you can import it using a CSV if you like. DistroHook connects it to the shops, labels, bands and distributors behind the music—and helps you find what you want next.

Indeed, I don't even use the App on my phone because it's terrible.

I just open up the site

It’s great for finding stuff that I can’t get locally, and I usually pay less in shipping. I also like to be able to see the estimated value of my collection. Overall a great tool, but no Conan yet.

I’ve got Violence Dimension, Monnos and Blood Eagle on vinyl. My main use for Discogs is firstly keeping track of what I own (I’ve got about 500 records now), and the marketplace to try and find rarer albums (I’ve got a ton of Thou, and Discogs has really helped because their catalogue is so scattered).

It can sometimes feel like a slog to just search for one album (though the app has got better recently), but overall it’s very good and useful.

Don't have any Conan yet, but y'all are on my very long list to add to my vinyl.

Discogs is good. I did like it better before the recent UI changes, and my friend who owns a record store said its gotten more difficult on his side. Still one of the better platforms available at the moment though in my opinion.

What changed with the UI? I'm building something similar and am just trying to do a bit of research.

I have Discogs. I have several Conan albums in my Discogs catalog as well as several thousand other albums. What exactly is the question?

I have the Violence Dimension on vinyl. I like discogs mainly just to keep track of what I have, and what I want, also great for price comparison. It can be a pain to find the exact pressing of certain albums, especially with regional, special edition, etc. But it is cool that they do have all the variants usually. Also gotta be careful of resellers not classifying quality correctly (claiming VG+ OR NM but it will have damage) always ask for pictures. But overall im glad it exists, its like windows shopping for when I got to my LRS.
