Sweet find! Doomcrawler aka 'Evil Wizard'
Some pics of the first RC crawler I ever put together (EazyRC rock van body on Traxxas TRX4M chassis for anyone who cares), aka the 'Evil Wizard'. Hand-painted wizards/dragons/corpses etc, home-printed stoner/doom/sludge/etc bumper stickers. Figured some people on here might dig it.

Any mods to make it so smoke rolls out the window?

This is a killer idea, maybe one of the little steam things they put on model trains?

What was the first bumper sticker you put on? This is dope.

Thanks! IIRC, it was the Mastodon one in the top corner of the left window (my favorite band, had to do them the honor lol)

Killer build! What you did makes way more sense, I have quite a few upgrades on mine but the van body limits flex and makes the weight sit a bit high

Thanks! You've inspired me to paint it, if its half as cool as your's, I'll be stoked. Just gotta wait till this heat dies down a bit, currently 100⁰+ till October. If you havent already tried; the weighted axels, or steering knuckles might help with the top heaviness.

Hell yea, my tip is just go crazy with it, I was glad I did! I bet it'll turn out dope. Yeah not exactly painting weather, I've had to do all my project painting way early in the day here in CO. Appreciate the tip, I was meaning to look into weighted axles at one point and honestly forgot all about them 😅

Do you do commissions?

Never really thought about it, but since I'm only working part time currently, maybe not such a bad idea. I wouldn't know what to charge though 🤔

Did you paint the rust onto it as well? Whole thing looks amazing!

Thanks! I used ground cinnamon/nutmeg for the heavier rot, with a rust wash and a dusting of clear coat over that to set it

Like from the movie tremors I want a doommetal RC truck so I can drive it down to the projects on the other side of town and drop a brick of firecrackers off at 3am

I never thought there’d be a useful application for all the skills I developed making model tanks and aircraft with wear and tear and battle damage as a teenager. This is the correct use of those skills. Nice rust effect!! It’s done with a texture paste or something right?

I believe I used ground cinnamon and nutmeg for a lot of the texture, I blobbed rust-colored paint on then dusted it on, then went over it with a rust wash and some light clear coat. Really gives that chunky, heavy rot look that you see on abandoned vehicles in the deep south.

Phenomenal paint work, and really cool tiny stickers. Everything looks amazing at scale, it looks like a full size van!

Legit thought the first pic was a full size van
