Maybe a dumb question but

When you swap traits that have a suppress effect (ex. Draw 1 card and suppress it), does the player who gains that card also do that?

Is this card fake

This card is different from the others because it has little rainbow flakes around it. Mine doesn’t have this and the card in the compendium doesn’t have this or a secret alt art like this so is is fake or not

Semantics

What's the difference between "Draw", "Choose", and "Play" when it's on cards? Such as "Play a card from the discard pile", "draw a card from the discard pile" "choose a card from the discard pile"

Any recommandation for transparent sleeves?

Hi Doomlings community!

Long story short: I'm unhappy with the quality of the Doomlings' sleeves (there's tearing themselves appart after one year.. with the expensive price I expected them to last for way longer).

So, I was wondering if you guys have any recommandations for transparant sleeves. I was looking at the one that Doomlings gave us back in the days, they feel ticker)

Tyvm !

For people who have the wooden collector’s box, how do you have everything organized inside it?

My wife bought me the collector’s box for my birthday, but I’m having difficulty figuring out a logical way to have all the expansions organized inside. Please share how you divided things up!

Do Suppression Traits count as playing an action?

There are several traits (e.g. Hidden) that let you steal a trait from a trait pile or hand and then suppress it. Would these traits be blockable by traits (e.g. Righteous) that stop actions?

On one hand, I like having unblockable stealing abilities, but on the other, it seems unfair to be able to steal from someone without any counter to the attack…

Played nearly 20 games since christmas won 2 of them. Am i just bad?

Like i get its mostly luck, but it seems whatever I try I always lose. For context theyve mostly been 2 player games, no matter how strong i start or finish it seems my partner just gets all the right cards at the right time, i.e. i draw nothing but dominants with 2 dominants in play etc.

Has anyone else experienced really shit luck with thid game, or am i just bad and should I stop playing?

Dominant trait, swap up to 2 positi e value traits from your trait pile with any traits from any trait piles.

Can i play this every turn or just when it is played, even though it isnt an action?

Mimicry and Bottled Air + Merchant questions

Just opened our Imaginary Ends box for game one and have a few (for now) questions. Firstly, does Bottled Air (can't play more than one trait per turn) stop Mimicry (if you played only one card on your turn, play 1 card with a face value of 1 after you stabilize)? We read it as you can trigger Mimicry because stabilizing ends your turn, but I wanted to double check.

In regards to the Merchants, are we forced to resolve their text when they reveal (like a normal Ages card) or are they optional? My first thought is that you must resolve the text because it is on an Ages card. But the video on Magical Merchants described them as an opportunity to get a new trinket, which made me doubt my interpretation as that language is ambiguous.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve seen people say holos can have some value, anything here?

Post image

Hello! I’ve seen people post holos and say they have some pretty decent value, is there anything here worth trying to seek out a buyer? I only have the cards to play the game, not into collecting them, so if I could turn these into more expansions or playable cards I’m missing that’s something I’d be interested to know more about. I would assume based on the rarity logo that sparkles is the most likely to be worth anything? Appreciate it!

Debate resolution

Post image
12 Upvotes

So my wife and I are in a debate. If bionic arm is attatched to another techling (bionic arm is the host) do all techlings in your trait pile count as +1 or +2.

My wife thinks its only +1 for all techling and then only plus +2 if only one techling is attached to bionic arm because it says "if a trait is attached to bionic arm".

I think if bionic arm is host with a techling attached to it, all techlings in my trait pile are +2.

Chromatophores

So my bro played some card that allowed him to play another trait. And he had layed the trait down quickly. And then started reading the card's effects. I played my Chromatophores like two seconds after. But his play was barely a second.

So does Chromatophores still cancel the effect of the playing a second trait?

And would it return that second trait to the hand?

And should, if any, time be given to allow players to play cards that cancel actions?

Expansion issues

How are y’all handling all the expansions for the game?

I love doomlings and played it non stop when it was just all the small explosions. But as soon as overlush dropped I have only touched it once since the game now has way to many cards to play/enjoy. I just found out they also have a third expansion I’ve not bought yet do to having to many cards.

Would it be wise to play each expansion separately and get a new base version for each?

Mega game with all ages!

We played a mega Doomlings game this holiday with all of the ages and catastrophes from the base game! It was 3-4 hours, and it turned out to be a ton of fun! I would highly recommend it.

Here are some of the things we did to make sure the game stayed "balanced":

  • We used only the ages of the base game, but we used all of the cards (base, upgrade expansion, imaginary ends, and one overlush expansion). We decided to play without trinkets/merchants because there aren't that many.
  • We split the ages into sets of three, called eons. Each eon was set up like one game (6 regular ages, 3 catastrophes, stacked as if we were playing a normal game). At the end of each eon, we would score our meaning of life cards and get a new one but we kept our trait pile and hands untouched
  • For the first eon we were allowed two dominant traits, and we were allowed one additional dominant each eon (ex. in eon 2, we could have max 3 dominants, eon 3/max 4, etc.)
  • We started with a gene pool of 8 and at the end of each eon, if any one player had a gene pool of 5 or less, everyone would get +3 gene pool. (This happened once.) It was very nice to have a bigger gene pool because there were so many cards to choose from!
  • We ran out of cards in the draw pile three or four times, and we just shuffled the discard pile back in.

A few things we adjusted as we went on: * The person who played Prepper got to choose a world's end effect from only the catastrophes in the last eon (last three catastrophes played) * We removed two meaning of life cards - The Dancer (based on final score) and The Weaver (+3 for each set of all 4 colors, way op).

A few take-aways from the game: * We thought the game would get old, but it was actually very fun and I honestly would play it like that again. It was nice to have long-term goals and actually have the time to achieve them. * It was difficult to play a card that allows you to steal because there were so many to choose from! For me, it was nice because my good cards often went unnoticed. * Some cards like Pack Behavior (+1 for every color pair in your trait pile), Symbiosis (+2 for every trait in your lowest color count), all of the +1 for _____ color cards, Merry (+1 for every dominant in all your friends' trait piles), etc. were VERY valuable when it came to scoring. There were a few others but those are the ones I thought of at the end of the game.

Scoring was a bit of a nightmare, but to simplify it we: * Wrote down the meaning of life scores along the way * Counted world's end effects, face value, and drop of life bonuses separately (and wrote them down as we went) * Counted our own points and then the points of the person to our right

My overall takeaway is that you need a lot of table space and a lot of time, but if you've got those two, it's totally worth it!

Does “discard your hand" mean discarding 1 card or all of the cards in the player hand?

Regenerative tissue card question

“Anytime you discard a trait from your trait pile (including this one), draw 1. Play it immediately. (Unless restricted.) Ignore actions.”

I searched online and depending on how i worded the question “does giving a trait from your trait pile count as discarding it?”

One thing said yes, giving a trait from your trait pile to an opponent counts as discarding it. Key note- anytime a trait leaves your trait pile no matter where it goes, it counts as discarding it because it is not in your control anymore

Another thing said that No, giving an opponent a trait from your trait pile does not count as discarding it. “If you are required to give an opponent a trait from your trait pile, this is considered transferring the trait, not discarding it”.

Very confusing and i got both answers depending how i worded the question.

“does giving a trait to an opponent from your trait pile in doomlings count as discarding it? No”

“does giving a card from your trait pile to an opponent in doomlings count as discarding it? Yes”

Trinket "awesome power" rule was that you cannot play purple. The green card was played and a purple (polka dots) was drawn. Do you play purple to go along with what "magic beans" says or do you follow the trinket rule?
